Urban Russia• Russia is mostly an urban country;
according to the census results, 74% of Russians live in urban areas -- either towns or cities.
• Moscow is the largest city in Russia with a population of 11.5 million people, which also makes it the sixth largest city in the world.
• Saint Petersburg is the second largest Russian city, with 4.8 million people, making it the 40th largest city in the world

Rural Russia• Life in rural Russia is
tough! People have to work longer and conditions are tough compared to the cities
• Many people in rural Russia are poor and as such cannot afford to live in the same way that many urban residents do.

Rural vs Urban
• Like many countries across the globe Russia is facing a problem of young people undertaking
rural to urban migration!
• This is where people are moving from the countryside to live and work in the cities.
• What do you think are the problems of this? What are the impacts on people, work and the country if all the young people leave the countryside?

Your Task
• Your task is to produce a creative piece of writing/poster to encourage young workers to stay in the countryside.
• To start, think of the positives and negatives of both living in the countryside and life in the cities in Russia.
