The ALMAWATECH GroupALMAWATECH plans, builds and installs water and wastewater plants in compact modular design or in customized design for

industrial milk processing.

ConsultationWe visit you on site, hear and see your needs. It is advisable to

hold a web meeting in advance.

PlanningIn the planning phase, we develop a solution for you. Process

engineering is planned based on our experience and your needs.

ConstructionThe plant is completely installed by us and equipped with modern

process and electrical technology.

Challenge

Dairies produce between 500 and 10.000 m3 of processed milk per day, depending on the size of the plant, which must not be discharged into the public sewage system without pre-treatment. The wastewater load of dairies often exceeds the capacities of local wastewater treatment plants. The wastewater must be fully treated prior to discharge.

In many cases, there are no public wastewater treatment plants, and the dairy needs its own full-stage treatment.

The stages of treatment are:

Mechanical fat separation

Screening and buffering

pH neutralisation with CO2

Neutralisation with aeration

Flotation with biological stage

Flotation with MBBR biology

Anaerobic pre-treatment

Anaerobic sludge treatment

Biological wastewater treatment

The aerobic activated sludge process with fine-bubble membrane aeration has become established as the biological wastewater treatment method. The technical design must be oriented to the operational requirements. The tank design can be in stainless steel or locally in concrete construction. The plant function is possible both in SBR in the batch process and in the continuous process. For high loads and low effluent values, ALMAWATECH suggests a two-stage process with an MBBR stage (moving bed reactor).

Energy from wastewater

Wastewater in the dairy industry has a high energy load of around 3.000 mg/l COD. Whey has COD values of 50.000 to 70,000 mg/l.

Direct, aerobic pre-treatment and biogas recovery from the main wastewater stream is possible. However, aerobic treatment of the main tream and fermentation of the excess sludge and flotate from pre-treatment is better.

System controlALMAWATECH equips all plants with an automated control system and user interface from Siemens. In addition to good operation in the field, the self-developed software also enables a connection to a central control system of the customer. Remote maintenance or remote monitoring by ALMAWATECH is possible.

Robust Aggregats

ALMAWATECH relies on robust makes from German brand manufacturers. Pumps and measuring devices are specially selected and can be modified to the end customer's standard if required.

Treatment chemicals

ALMAWATECH has its own formulations for the necessary treatment chemicals. This allows considerable savings to be made in operating and disposal costs. The plants are also able to process foreign chemicals and to work with commercially available basic chemicals.

Installation, maintenance and inspection

ALMAWATECH has its own manufacturing capacities and workshops for pre-assembly in the Rhine-Main area. Our own electrical and software engineers are able to carry out system maintenance and troubleshooting quickly and easily on site or by remote maintenance.

Project design

The treatment of wastewater from milk and cheese production is one of our special fields of industrial wastewater technology.

1. Plant design with a solution-oriented approach

2. Consideration of customer requirements

3. Technical and customised detailed planning

4. Plant construction

5. Commissioning

6. After sales

A modular construction concept can be helpful for plants that are developing dynamically. This means that production-related capacity increases in terms of treatment quantity and sludge dewatering can be taken into account in advance, both structurally and conceptually.
