TANK CLEANING TO METHANOL STANDARDS
WALL WASH TEST REQUIREMENTS
In case last cargo is Methanol, wall wash test not to be required.
In case any cargo or slop tank(s) used for ballast purposes, and/or any cargo or slop tank
is not in Methanol atmosphere (last cargo was not loaded with Methanol), wall wash test
is required.
If the last cargo is not methanol, wall wash test is required and vessel must arrive ready to
load methanol with the cargo tanks clean to the satisfaction of the independent surveyorand pass the wall wash test with the following results:
Tank wall area of about 0.25 M2 on each tank bulkhead shall be washed with Methanol.Methanol volume of about 1 liter/tank may be used for washing.
Acceptable Result Test Method:
Chloride content: NIL (2 ppm maximum TURBIDITY test is acceptable)
Permanganate time: 60 minutes minimum ASTM-D-1363Hydrocarbons: NIL ASTM-D-1152
Color pt. co.- 15 maximum ASTM-D-1209
Appearance: Clear, free from suspended matter
Odor: Characteristic, free of foreign odorMTBE: 10 ppm maximum Gas chromatography
Ethanol: 10 ppm maximum
First foot sample test:
The 1st foot sample test should satisfy the under mentioned requirements, in order toensure the cleanliness of cargo tanks and pipe lines:
Limit Test Method:
