    Route description

    START - Turn left out of the car parkand immediately left onto NationalCycle Route 1 - following these signs

    continue along thepath beside the river.

    Please note that dogs must be kepton a lead as you pass through themeadow.

    Continue straight ahead through thewoodland.

    Keep following this path until youreach Reed Pond.

    Return to the car park (FINISH).

    Points of interest

    In medieval times, ships carryingwine, timber and Caen stone forCanterbury Cathedral docked atFordwich after making their way upthe Stour.

    The walk passes through land ownedby the Ministry of Defence and isused for training. Nearby ChaucerBarracks is home to the Princess ofWaless Regiment.

    Reed Pond once supplied the monksof Canterbury Cathedral with water.
