    For those wanting a greater challenge spend the weekend walking or cycling off-road along the Marriott’s Way and the Bure Valley Path. A distance of some35 miles exploring the cultural and railway heritage of the area, it is a greatintroduction to Norfolk, and a little more challenging than you might think.

    All our friendly bed and breakfasts and self catering properties welcome cyclistsand walkers and have all the facilities to make your stay relaxing and easy.

    LONG DISTANCEPATHS AND CYCLE ROUTES

    Marriott’s Way for cycling, walking orhorse-riding. At 26 miles this is one of thelongest off-road routes in the country. Thistranquil trail winds its way through gloriouscountryside and picturesque villages followingthe track-bed of the decommissioned railwayline that linked Aylsham and Reepham withNorwich. There is an abundance of wildlife –you might see kestrels, hares, orchids and ifyou’re very lucky, otters – ancient churches,local food pleasures and artwork to enjoyalong the way.

    The Bure Valley Path for cycling or walking.A nine-mile route through the picturesqueBure Valley between historic Aylsham andWroxham in the heart of the Broads. Itfollows the narrow-gauge Bure Valley Railwayand halts are provided at Brampton, Buxtonand Coltishall to put down or pick uppassengers on request, including bikes(subject to space).     Weavers Way A 56 mile walking route fromCromer to Great Yarmouth passing throughHanworth, Blickling, Aylsham, Acle andHalvergate. The name Weavers Way comesfrom the cloth industry that was once amajor industry in the area, leaving its markwith extraordinarily grand churches andhistoric country manor houses.www.countrysideaccess.norfolk.gov.uk

    The Wherryman’s Way travels through thesouthern Broads area – following the course ofthe River Yare between Norwich and GreatYarmouth. Look out for the unique waymarkers along the route, which include figures,sculpture, information panels and audio points.You can walk the whole route or explore partsof it by cycle or train. Alternatively you canexplore one of the ten circular village walks en-route which includes walks around Reedhamand the Berney Arms Windmill.www.wherrymansway.net
