CLUB DAY
Waimak United Football are hosting a Club Day at Kendall park, on Saturday 26th May. We are wanting to bring back the community feel to the club and connect our board, staff and coaches with our members and the wider community at whole. We are hosting all our inhouse teams; Mini Football, First Kicks and Fun Football teams at Kendall park as well as most of our Mainland grade teams. We welcome the teams travelling away for their games to come and join us either before or after their games.
We are needing your help to make this a successful day. We ask parents/guardians of Mini Football, Fun Football and First Kicks players to provide baking for our Bake sale. Please bring these to the clubrooms Saturday morning prior to your games. Our Mainland grades and senior players could you please bring a non-perishable item to your practice next week for our grocery raffle.
We are holding a second-hand uniform/gear stall and ask any members that have old uniforms that are not being used to donate them to our stall with all proceeds going back to the club. This will enable parents who haven’t managed to source gear for this season to pick something up at a great price. Please drop these off at Kendall Park between 9am-2.30pm Monday-Friday or to your coach at practice.
AMI Insurance will be here with their yellow fire truck and running a sausage sizzle, as well as Mr Whippy, coffee van, a bouncy castle and our inflatable pitch. Please remember to bring along cash as we will have Eftpos available, but no cash out. We encourage you to stay and enjoy the festivities and make a day of it after your game. Bring a picnic blanket and stay to watch our Premier teams in action!
"Don't walk through life just playing football. Don't walk through life just being an athlete. Athletics will fade. Character and integrity and really making an impact on someone's life, that's the ultimate vision, that's the ultimate goal - bottom line." ~ Ray Lewis (1975, retired American football line backer)

After 2 weekends off due to byes in the WPL competition and the Reta Fitzpatrick Cup, we came up against Tech in the Kate Sheppard Cup. We had played them in our last game in the league, losing 5-0 in a disappointing defeat. The girls came into the game with a new game plan which would test them both physically and mentally, but still down on confidence after the last result. It took 20min for the girls to find their feet, with tech the better side in the early stages. Resilient defending meant we had kept tech scoreless until the 45th minute, when a lapse in concentration cost us and a classy finish meant we headed to the sheds 1-0 down at halftime. The second half was one way traffic, with Waimak dominating possession and creating several opportunities, eventually scoring in the 70th minute through Katie Elstob after good work down the right from Gabi Rennie and Ella Fong. We then conceded a free kick in the 85th minute, with a good finish against the run of play putting Tech up 2-1. The girls tried desperately to find a reply, but fell agonisingly short. Great performance from the girls, despite the result not going our way and form, we look to take through the next few weeks as we have players returning from injury and the US. Today we take on last year's WPL champions, Coastal Spirit. The girls have prepared well this week and are looking forward to a competitive game against arguably the strongest side in the league. Good luck to Jim and the Coastal Spirit girls today "Mistakes are a fact of life. It is the response to the error that counts." - Nikki Giovanni

Coaches Comments
Today we welcome Parklands to Kendall Park for our first home game in 5 games. Firstly welcome to all Parklands coaching staff, players and fans.Coming off the back of 2 cup games in 4 days both against MPL opposition in which we lost to; Coastal and then a very hard fought battle against Uni, where we went down to 2-1 to a cross/shot in a game we dominated and really should have won.We have been playing well and with a lot of intensity for a number of weeks and I feel with a little more quality and a bit of good luck we can get back on track, and that starts with Saturdays game. Our opponents will be ready to go, and after beating us in the first encounter will be full of confidence. We will have to give it 100% and more to get the 3 points we need.Hope to see a good crowd down at Kendall to cheer the team on.
Thanks Adam.

Team PROFILE
10th Grade Girls Black Team
Hi, my name is Emma Johnson and I play for Waimak's WPL side, but more than that, I've had the privilege of coaching the amazing 10th Grade Girls Development Team this season. So far the girls have played a total of 4 games, and it gives me great pride to watch them play. They improve each time they are out on the field, but it's their fierce determination and the way they're learning to play together as a team, that I couldn't be more proud of.One thing is for certain, Waimak has some great upcoming talent to look forward to as these girls make their way up through the grades.
