Wacek the GnomeKnitting pattern by Twins 

Standing Wacek measures about 23 cm (9 inches) to tip of head, sitting – 14,5 cm (5,7 inches).

The size of the finished Gnome varies with the yarn and tension.MATERIALS:

PATTERN

All pieces of the toy are worked flat.

Body (1 piece) – start from the neck. Needles: size 2 (2.75mm)

Cast on 14 stitches using body color.Leave a long tail to sew body to head.

Rows 1 - 4: st st, start from K row.

Row 5: K3, M1, K1, M1, K6, M1, K1,

M1, K3 (18 sts)

Row 6: P

Row 7: K4, M1, K1, M1, K8, M1, K1,

M1, K4 (22 sts)

Row 8: P

Row 9: K5 , M1, K1, M1, K10, M1,

K1, M1, K5 (26 sts)

Row 10: P

Row 11: K6 , M1, K1. M1, K12, M1,

Cut yarn. Thread it through sts left on knitting needles, pull to gather tightly, then

fasten off and sew. The body stuff firmly with fiberfill. Don’t close neck hole.

yarn. Cast on row is top of head.Row 1: P

you sew gnome’s nose.

Cast off. Cut yarn leaving a long end and sew. Stuff the head

firmly.

Ears (2 pieces)

 Needles: size 2 (2.75mm). Cast on 10 stitches using body

color yarn.

Cut yarn leaving a long end. Thread it through sts left on

knitting needles, pull to gather tightly, then fasten off 

and sew.

Nose (1 piece)

 Needles: size 2 (2.75mm). Cast on 10 sts using body color yarn. Start from P.

3 rows st st.Cut yarn. Thread it through sts left on knitting needles, pull to gather tightly, then

fasten off and sew.

Leg with a stripy stocking (2 pieces) - start from sole of a boot.

 Needles: size 2 (2.75mm). Cast on 20 sts using blue yarn.

Row 1: K Row 2: K9, M1, K2, M1, K9 (22 sts)

Row 3: K Row 4: K9, M1, K4, M1, K9 (24 sts)

Row 5: K 

Row 6: K9, M1, K6, M1, K9 (26 sts)

Row 7: K 

Row 8: K9, SSK, K4, K2tog, K9 (24 sts)

Row 9: P

Row 10: K9, SSK, K2, K2tog, K9 (22 sts)

Row 11: P

Row 12: K9, SSK, K2tog, K9 (20 sts)

Row 13: P

Row 14: K6, cast off 8 sts, K5 (12 sts on needle)

Row 15: P (12 sts)

Continue in stripe section of 2 rows in navy blue and 2

rows in white, st st 28 rows (7 navy blue stripes, 7 white

stripes). Then next 4 rows in navy blue.

Cut yarn and thread tail through rem sts and pull firmly.

Sew a hole on the top of foot. Join row ends of the leg,

leaving the edge open to stuff. Stuff legs with fiberfilllightly.

Upper leg of boot (2 pieces)  Needles: size 2 (2.75mm). CO 16 sts using blue yarn, knit 8 rows K all, cast off. Joinrow ends of the upper leg. Then join the piece to the boot. See photos.

Arms (2 pieces) – begin at the top. Needles: size 2 (2.75mm). Cast on 10 stitches using body color, leaving a long tail to

sew arm.

Start from P row – 27 rows st st. Next: K3, M1, K4, M1, K3 (12 sts)

 Next 3 rows: st st Next: K2, K2tog x 2, K1, K2tog x 2, K1 (8 sts)

 Next: P

Cut yarn and thread tail through rem sts and pull firmly. Sew arms and stuff them

with fiberfill very lightly.

Make up Joining: Sew the head, arms and legs to the body using yarn ends.

HairCut a few of orange yarn the same length. Take one strand of yarn, fold it in half,

and pull the folded end up between stitches on the top of head (see photo). Then take

the loose strands and pull them through the loop.

Make fluffy hair using a dog slicker brush.

Ears

Pin the ears to the head. Position

them where they look best to you.

Sew the ears to the head.

Face

Sew the nose central on the head (see marker). Mark eyes position and embroider the

eyes on the head. Then, using red yarn, embroider a mouth – see photo instructions

above. Blush cheeks lightly with red pencil. After then draw a few of freckles.

CLOTHES

Sweater – start from bottom. (2 pieces)

 Needles: size 4 (3.5mm). CO 25 sts using red yarn.

Rows 1 – 4: K all (4 rows)

Row 5: P all

Rows 6 – 15: st st ( 10 rows)

Row 16: (K3, K2tog) x 5 ( 20 sts)Rows 17 – 30): st st ( 14 rows)

Cast off.

Sleeves

Join side seam to armhole and right shoulder seams ( 3 sts of back and front for each

shoulder). With right side facing, pick up 16 sts. and work 16 rows of stockinette stitch.

Then work 2 rows K all. Cast off. Second sleeve make in the same way. Join side and

sleeve seams.

Hat (1 piece)

 Needles: size 4 (3.5mm). CO 40 sts using red yarn.

Rows 1 – 3: K allRow 4: P all

Rows 5 -14: st st (10 rows)

Row 15: (K3, K2tog) x 8 (32 sts)

Row 16: P all

Row 17: (K2, K2tog) x 8 (24 sts)

Rows 18 – 22: st st ( 5 rows)

Row 23: (K1, K2tog) x 8 ( 16 sts)

Rows 24 – 28: st st (5 rows)

Row 29: K2tog to end ( 8 sts)

Rows 30 – 34: st st (5 rows), cut yarn. Join seams of the hat. Panties (2 pieces)

Start from a leg.

 Needles: size 4 (3.5mm). CO 20 sts navy blue yarn.

Rows 1-2 K all

Rows 3 – 15 sts ts (13 rows)

Place marker on begin and end of the row

Rows: 16 – 30: st st (15 rows)

Row 31 - 34: (K1, P1) to end, cast off.

Join leg seams to markers, then join centre front

seams.

Scarf (1 piece)

 Needles: size 4 (3.5mm). Co 8 sts.

Rows 1- 4: K all. Then knit st st about 46 cm (18 inches). After then knit 4 rows K all. Cast

off. To block, iron the scarf using low temperature.
