Transcript of W Order of Worship Birthdays & Ellijay Church of Christ...
We are so glad that you are with us today! Our service
will be to praise and worship God and to encourage and uplift us to face another week. We will sing (Eph. 5:19, Col. 3:16), pray (James 5:15-18), and partake of the Lord’s Supper to remember our Savior’s sacrifice on the cross (Acts 20:7, 1 Cor. 11:23-26). We will also give back a portion of the monetary blessings that God has granted us so that we can carry out His work in our community (1 Cor. 16:2, 2 Cor. 9:7). We will also study a lesson from His Word that will hopefully be applicable to our daily lives, so that we can be equipped to handle the pressures of this world and reach those outside of
Christ (2 Tim. 2:15). EldersTim Hall - 706-669-0915

And just like that, summer was over! I was gone last weekend wrapping up my speaking commitments by spending a few days in Suches, GA as the guest speaker for the Woodstock congregation at their men’s retreat. Last Sunday, we had our worship service at 9:00 AM, so I was able to get back to Ellijay in time to hear most of James Barr’s sermon. He did an excellent
job, and I appreciate his willingness to stand up and proclaim God’s Word! Last Sunday night, our young men were in charge of the service, Jacob Jenkins, Lewis Mulkey, and Quinn Collier all delivered excellent devotional thoughts. We are blessed with an abundance of talented people who are willing to use their gifts to glorify God!
Please remember to pay attention to the bulletin. Our new quarter starts this morning, so we will have new class assignments as well as a ton of upcoming events that are listed on the calendar. We are looking forward to Steve Wages being with us in a couple of weeks to kick off our marriage enrichment class that will begin on September 18.
As we switch gears and prepare for a new season this morning, we will be discussing one of the more convicting passages in the New Testament from 2 Corinthians 3 where Paul tells us that we are a letter from God, written on the hearts of those we meet. Our example is so important, as the old saying goes, “because we are the only Bible some people will ever read.” I’m looking forward to studying this passage together this morning!
Welcome everyone to our family at the Ellijay Church of Christ. I’m sure there are several visitors in the audience today. I hope you enjoy the time with the saints as you worship on this holiday weekend.
Labor Day has traditionally been thought of as the end of summer. The wonderful news is that fall is perhaps the prettiest time of the year here in the North Georgia
Mountains. We hope our visitors will return often.
I am preaching today at the Hiawassee congregation, located about 60 miles north of Ellijay. Hiawassee is a small mission effort that the church in Ellijay has been helping for the past three years. Last Lord’s Day we had 30 in attendance. Dudley Maddox and Ken and Jenny Bailey were with us last Sunday. It’s always an encouragement to have support from Ellijay. Please keep the brethren in Hiawassee in your prayers.
