How We View Age Throughout Life

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get older is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

'How old are you?' 'I'm four and a half!' You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key.

Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:4

You get into your teens…now they can't hold you back! You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy. Psalm 99:9

'How old are you?' 'I'm gonna be 16!' You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16!And then the greatest day of your life… You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED…we had to throw him out!!

O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.  Isaiah 25:1

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40.... Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50.

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Psalm 90:12 (KJV)

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

Gray hair is a crown of splendor... Proverbs 16:31a (NIV)

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being. Revelation 4:11

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-to-day thing; you HIT Monday, January 17, 2011!

Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Psalms 100:1

You get into your 80's and every day may seem a cycle..you HIT lunch..you MAKE 4:30..you REACH bedtime.

And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards… “I was JUST 92”.

One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek Him in His temple. Psalms 27:4

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. 'I'm 100 and a half!' May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Isaiah 46:4

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Find ways to help others

2. Seek out cheerful friends.

3. Stay active and keep learning

4. Enjoy simple things

5. Laugh often, long and loud

6. Know that at times tears will happen

7. Surround yourself with those you love

8. Guard and cherish your health

9. Be anxious about nothing.

10. Tell people that you love them, at every opportunity

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by…

...the moments that take our breath away.

Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Psalms 100:3
