Volume 60, No. 12 Week of October 9, 2017

The Program today was a Club Assembly which was led by Martin Ander-son. He emphasized how important $ are in our Rotary Club and in Rotary in general. Martin pointed out that our Club has been at or near the top of the Giving category in our District for many years. Locally, we have supported the Rotary Dreamcatcher Project, The Conejo Free Clinic Dental Project, and we will be supporting the Manna relocation project. He pointed out that our current year budget is in the RED, ne-cessitating the following: • Increase in monthly Club dues from $72 per month to $80 per month

effective 11/1/2017 • Increase in our collection of Rotary District and International dues

from $35.00 per quarter to $37.50 per quarter effective January 1, 2018.

• Possible change to how the Club administers the Rule of 85. Originally, the rule of 85 was implemented by Rotary as a way to give an attend-ance break to certain older members who, when combining their years of service and their age, had attained 85 years. In our Club, the rule has morphed into members not paying dues but only paying for their lunches when they show up. This was an unintended conse-quence of the Rule of 85.

Martin emphasized our three major fund raisers, the Chili Cook-off, Street Faire and Wine Event. He pointed out that these three fund raisers are integral to our Rotary Club being a major charitable engine in the Commu-nity. During his presentation, Martin entertained questions from the membership. He encouraged members to reach out to him directly if they had questions that were not answered during the meeting.
