The simplest way to replacea volute gasket is to apply amodest coating ofPermatex #2 Non-Hardening Silicone(available at most autoparts stores) on the volutegasket area of the motoradapter. Once applied,place the volute gasket ontothe motor adapter. Thesilicone holds the volutegasket in place. Now putthe same amount of siliconeon the mating surface ofthe volute. This keeps youfrom damaging the volutegasket and the silicone alsoseals better than grease.

If you first put the volutegasket on the volute ratherthan on the motor adapteras noted above, the volutegasket may becomepinched when matedtogether. Another benefit tothe Non-Hardening Siliconeis that it is easy to clean offof the mating surfaces thenext time around.

Never use Hardeningsilicone. Hardening siliconelike “form-a-gasket” canmake removing the RotatingAssembly extremelydifficult.

Upgrade your grit removal system with the addition of the PISTA GritScrew Conveyor. Many PISTA® Grit Chamber owners have separatorscreens or grit carts. The PISTA® Grit Screw Conveyor is superior to theseand competitors’ grit conveyors.

While screens are an effective method of dewatering grit, particularly insmaller plants, they do have their limitations. They can be moremaintenance intensive and not as effective in removing fine grit.

The Smith & Loveless Anode Test Box was designed to monitor thecurrent flow in each Sacrificial Anode surrounding the treatment plant. Theamount of current flowing in the anodes depends on the bare steel of thestructure, plus any bare steel such as the connecting piping. The flow ofcurrent is also effected by the electrical ground at the service pole.

The S&L Anode Test Box provides a single measuring point to monitor thecurrent flow and subsequent amount of anode migration. S&L’s Anode TestBox works well with not only S&L equipment, but also on all undergroundsteel structures such as water booster pump stations, valve vaults. See thesizing information below.
