TINIG TINIG KABATAANKABATAAN

is composed of youth ages 15-25 who have various talents and capabilities dedicated in empowering youth through leadership, advocacy and education. This effort encourages youth to take control of their life situations while building self-esteem and improving the quality of life for themselves and other talented youth.



Originally known as the Barkadahang Radyo-Radyo, The TINIG KABATAAN (Voice of the Youth)TINIG KABATAAN (Voice of the Youth) was founded in September 1996 by 5 talented young broadcasters, voice talents, singers and youth leaders.

VOTY has it’s own radio youth program,

Radyo-RadyoRadyo-Radyo and Awit-TawananAwit-Tawanan. Aired over DZMMDZMM 630 KHZ every Sunday from 10 - 12 from October 1996 - December 2000.



Sey Mo, Sey KoSey Mo, Sey Ko aired over DZRH DZRH 666 Khz from March 2001 to March 2002 .

TINIG KABATAAN TINIG KABATAAN Believes that young people must be given the opportunity to understand organizational issues and develop their own advocacy skills. It is essential that we actively engage youth in identifying their needs, capabilities and talents allowing them to be empowered to change the cycle of their lives.

TINIG KABATAANTINIG KABATAAN members are dedicated to servicing and presenting their talents to the young people of the Philippines to promote youth participation and development.



YOUTH EMPOWERMENT YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROJECT PROJECT

The Youth Empowerment Project is dedicated to serving the 1000 children and youth of Metro Manila from 1997 to 2000.

TINIG KABATAAN council members consist of young people between the ages of 15-25 from various backgrounds, classes and experiences. These youth work together to identify and address talented children and youth issues for all youth of Metro Manila.




In the short existence of the program we have made an impact in the less fortunate children and youth especially in the area of education and advocacy. In the area of youth leadership development andcommunity education, TINIG KABATAAN members have been invited to present at several local, national and international conferences. TINIG KABATAAN members have been featured on national television and radio programs; newspapers; school and other community events.

The goals of the Youth Empowerment Project for 2003-2004 are:1.) Continued improvement of educational opportunities for talented children and youth.2.) Provide leadership opportunities to VOTY members.3.) Increase community education of youth issues.

VOTY Network brings together young people in more than 78 provinces within national networks to collaborate on concrete projects addressing national problems and creating positive change.

• To informinform young people about the wealth of opportunities that surrounds them.

• To involveinvolve young people in online and offline communities where members & mentors contribute to, and

• Gain from the Voice of the YouthVoice of the Youth experience while fostering a sense of national, global awareness, collaboration, and leadership.



What We Do: Create a national platform for dialogue, self-expression,

community involvement, and cultural exploration to ensure that the voices of youth are heard and that their initiatives are supported and acted upon.

Develop and support a peer-to-peer learning environment where youth teach each other through workshops aimed at skill-building, showcasing projects, and building mentorship relationships among the network.

Foster partnerships with like-minded organizations in order to provide access to resources, and utilize our technology platform to increase organizational capacity through information sharing and knowledge networks.

Having fun, teamwork, commitment, idea sharing, local community initiatives, understanding, self-expression, support networks, diverse perspectives, cross-cultural understanding, connecting people and ideas.



Our Principles:• The personal growth of an individual in a

team environment is integral to the creation of positive national change.

• The potential for youth to affect positive change is enormous.

recognizing and nurturing the strengths, interests, and abilities of young people by providing them with real opportunities to become involved in decisions that affect them at individual and systemic levels. This kind of participation enhances youth health because it offers young people a chance to develop important decision-making and problem-solving skills, develop meaningful relationships, and bolster self-esteem.

Interestingly, the 2003 International Year of Freshwater Secretariat of the UNESCO Division of Water Sciences has solicited the support of YVSD to serve as the National Focal Point for Youth in the Philippines.
