    Introduction of GAIL

    GAIL, Indias principal gas transmission and marketing company , was set

    Government of India in August 1984 to create gas sector infrastructure for

    sustained development of the natural gas sector in the country.

    GAIL (India) Ltd. at Pata, Distt. Auraiya, U. P. It is based on Natural Gas asfeedstock from GAILs HBJ pipeline, which has been set up in accordance

    with GAILs mission to maximize the value addition from each fraction of

    Natural Gas.

    The Plant consists of four major units i.e. GPU, GCU, HDPE and LLDPE Unit.

    Current capacity of the cracker plant is 300,000 tones per annum ofEthylene.

    TECHNOLOGY

    Technology for the Gas Cracker unit has been licensed by Stone and

    Web star, USA. Technology for the HDPE unit has been licensed by

    Mitsui of Japan and Nova Chemicals, Canada for swing plant of

    HDPE & LLDPE unit. Ethane, a constituent of Natural Gas is

    converted into ethylene as its main product in the Gas Cracker Unitbased upon latest technology from USA .

    PRODUCTS

    GAIL is the major supplier of HDPE & LLDPE with the back-up of two

    separate technologies. Some of the products are used, are Injection

    Molding, Woven Sacks, Pipe & Fittings, Roto Molding, HM film, IM

    Crates, Luggage, Blow Molding, HM Blow Molding etc.

    DESCRIPTION OF POWER PLANT UTILITY BOILER

    The Steam Generated from all these boilers is utilized for production of

    Electrical Power.

    2 Nos. of Turbo Generators having Generating Capacity of 15.5 MW(Extraction

    type) & 25.6 MW(Condensing type) .

    The very high pressure steam (102 Kg/Cm2 (g) ) produced from all the 3 boilers .

    UTILITY BOILERS

    IN THIS PLANT WE USE VERTICAL TYPE BOILER .

    There are 3 nos. of utility boilers present in UPPC.

    2 boilers run at a time and one boiler act as a standby for them .

    FUEL: RICH GAS ,LEAN GAS.

    BOILER ACCESSORIES

    ECONOMISER

    The purpose of the economizer is to preheat the boiler feed

    water before it is introduced into the steam drum, and to recoversome of the heat from the fuel gases leaving the boiler.

    SUPER HEATER

    THE PURPOSE OF SUPER HEATER IS TO SUPER HEAT THE STEAM.

    DESUPER HEATER

    The purpose of the economizer is to preheat the boiler feed water before it is

    introduced into the steam drum, and to recover some of the heat from the fuel

    gases leaving the boiler.

    POWER GENERATION THROUGH STGs

    Presently the Maximum requirement of Electrical power for the complex

    is around 32 3 MW.

    This demand of 32 3 MW of power requirement in met by 2 SteamTurbo Generators .

    Power Generated by these Generators is at 11 KV. It is further stepped up

    to 33 KV through transformers which are synchronized with the 33 KV

    grids.
