A New York Times article posted on January 30, 2015discusses some of the concerns on consuming vitaminwater. Here is an excerpt from the article. Note that someparagraphs were omitted for the brevity of the newsletter

According to a study that analyzed 46 beverages insupermarkets alongside bottled water, it found that manyof these drinks contained vitamins B6, B12, niacin andvitamin C in quantities "well in excess" of the average dailyrequirements for young adults.

In addition, sugary drinks were just as likely to beconcentrated with vitamins as those that were sugar-free.However, as sugar has become the focus of public healthconcerns about beverage consumption, this extrememicronutrient addition has fallen under the radar. [Inaddition] the most common nutrients added were vitaminsthat are already plentiful in the average person's diet, sotheir widespread inclusion in these drinks is almostcompletely unnecessary. Another nationwide study byNational Institute of Health in 2012 found that supplementuse put these people at increased risk of potentiallyexcessive consumption of folic acid, calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium and vitamins A, C and B6.

For those people who do not take any daily vitamins or do not consume much fruit, vitamin water could help to certain extent. However, I am concerned with the excessive consumption of vitamins that might lead into trouble in liver function. So, I would rather choose the safer, proven way to stay healthy: Get water from purified water or bottled water.
