Grade Level/Course - 2nd grade students
Collection Type- This lesson consist of pre/post assessments, supplemental instruction, and practice materials.
Domain – This artifact represents the PERFORMdomain according to the scoring guide. PERFORM is shown in the students ability to apply media, techniques, and processes.
Standards – Standard 2: Students will use knowledge of both structures and functions. GLE 2.1
Point A: (Standard 2: 2.1) Students will draw a 3D cityscape using perspective.
Point B: (Standard 2: 2.1) Students will draw a cityscape using 1pt, 2pt, or 3pt perspective.
Lesson Description
Objective – Students
will use knowledge of both
structures and functions by
creating a cityscape
showing understanding of
1pt, 2pt, and 3pt
perspectives. (Standard 2:
2.1)

Point A: In November , students had a pre-assessment by drawing a 3D cityscape using prior knowledge. The city had to show perspective demonstrating 1pt, 2pt, or 3pt perspective.
Supplemental: The students had to learn about perspective and form. They discussed each form, and practiced drawing rectangular prisms, and cubes. The teacher had worksheets to give each student and assist them. The students practiced doing 1pt, 2pt, and 3pt perspectives. The teacher demonstrated how to draw guidelines coming from each point to create a 3D building.
Point C: In February, students had to take the post-assessments. They were allowed to look at buildings from images to create a 3D cityscape. They had to show depth, use guidelines to show they understood how to use the points to make the building 3D. They were allowed to add a street, trees, and a background.

Student 1: AdvancedPoint A: Pre
Point B: Post
Point A: Student 1 was not able to show
they understood how to make a building
3D using linear perspective. There
buildings are flat shapes that have no
depth. They have a street but clearly they
show no evidence of form.
Point B: Growth is shown in which student 1 was
able to look at a photograph and draw a 3pt
perspective of that image. The student is able to
understand bird’s eye view, and linear perspective.
They have several streets and were able to show
perspective. The student have shown they
understand form and mastered the objective.

Student 2: Proficient
Point B:Student 2 has shown growth because they
are now able to draw 1pt perspective. The student
used form and linear perspective. They understand
how objects closer to the center get smaller. Their
buildings went from shapes to forms.
Point B: Student 2 was not able to show
they understood how to make a building
3D using linear perspective. There
buildings are flat shapes that have no
depth. They clearly don’t understand
perpective.

Student 3: Emerging
Point B: Student 3 has shown growth because they
are able to understand linear perspective and 3D
forms. The street is showing perspective. The
building are getting smaller as they get closer to the
center.
Point A: Student 3 was not able to show
they understood how to make a building
3D using linear perspective. There
buildings are shapes and not forms.

Students learn about Linear Perspective Supplemental
Instruction
The teacher taught
perspective and displayed
examples of each
perspective. They had to
demonstrate their
understanding of each
perspective by drawing
each on paper. They also
learned about worm’s eye
view and birds eye view.

Student Mastery Levels
Criteria: This student
mastery levels were chosen
based on the mastery of
objectives before and after
the instruction (Pre/Post).
There was student growth
for each student at least
one, two, three levels from
point A to point B. Scoring
was aligned with the
(Standard 2: 2.1) scoring
rubric.

While there was changes in student growth, all students demonstrated the ability to apply what they learned about the art principles. They were able to demonstrate at least two or three levels of growth from Point A to Point B. There artwork would not be able to show growth without the amount to practice that was required throughout this lesson. Students have a better understanding of perspective, as well as, worm’s eye view, and bird’s eye view.
Overall the lesson allowed students to learn how to explore different ways to create a cityscape. Students were very pleased with their post-drawings and they have a better understanding of 1pt, 2pt, and 3 pt perspective.
