Gearing Up For Examination!

Exams are just around the corner. Some students get panicky before the examination. There

is no need to fear anything. The examinations are simply to test your understanding of things

that you have been taught during the lessons. I believe that when a well-prepared mind

engages with a well-designed test, the success is sure to come. Here are some suggestions

for you to be better prepared:

1. When you study, don't just read: Write!

We must write to remember and develop better understanding.

2. Make the most of your study time. Make a schedule and

workout how much time you need for each chapter.

3. Choose a study place which is calm and quiet.

4. Take regular breaks. To avoid any stress, the short breaks will

help you refresh and concentrate more.

5. Do sleep and eat well. Rest is good for your brain, so take a good sleep the night before

your exam day as physical and mental fitness play a vital role during exam time.

6. Don't panic! If you have done the preparation,

you will be fine. Try to relax and your exam

will go smoothly.

4

If you believe in yourself, you do not have to pay any challenge.

A dash of revision,

A sprinkle of time,

A spoonful of knowledge,

A school bell that chimes,

A drizzle of memories,

A moment to brew,

Good luck for your exams

It's all up to you.

My dear students I am in no doubt of your abilities as I know you will

put your best efforts in everything you do.

I wish you all resounding success in the forthcoming examinations.

The Future is Female is an initiative that is led by students from Georgetown University

Qatar, and this is the third year. It aims to increase women's participation in the

workforce and the public sphere, and does so through several workshops that are held in

Fall 2019, Spring 2020, and there is an Annual Future is Female Conference.

The future is female is sponsored by the Resolution Project after winning the Social

Venture Challenge at the United Nations Youth Assembly 2017. The conference will be

in collaboration with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Hamad Bin

Khalifa University. The theme of the conference this year is "Beyond the Conventional:

Representations of Women." This program is one of a kind in the region; it is entirely

student-run and is founded on the pillars of intersectionality, diversity, and inclusivity.

The workshop topics this year will be on Entrepreneurship, Sustainability, Disabilities,

and Mental Health and there will be more information about them later on. The aim is to

give high school students the skills they need to become better social citizens and self-

improvement.

Jawaher AlShamari (a previous Cambridge student) and Mae AlShebani presented to

groups of years 11 & 12 students about the FIF initiative, its goals, and how they could

benefit from the workshops.

This is a great opportunity for high school students to gain skills, discuss important topics

and get a certificate to strengthen their university applications. University acceptance

can be very competitive and one way to stand out is by participating in different events

such as MUN, Debate and FIF workshops! We ask parents to encourage their children to

work hard, manage their time and participate in different activities when possible.

Kindergarten

31For suggestions and concerns send email to [email protected]

We had another busy week in Kindergarten. Teaching and learning will

continue until the last day of the term. Children are engaged in many

activities on a daily basis. Please check the student’s planner each day.

KG2 children will be bringing Oxford Reading Tree books for home reading. Please sign the reading log after listening to your child.

Last week, we had ‘Messy Day.’ What do you get when the children and

their teachers get hands on experience with glue, glitter, sand, play

dough, yarn, bubbles and paint? A big mess! But more importantly very

happy children. Children interacted with their peers and were very excited.

All in all, we had weird and wonderful exploration and the outcome was

fantastic. We also had assembly presentation from the children of KG1C

and KG2D on the current virtue ‘Cleanliness’. Star of the week awards were

given to children. Display work is by the nimble fingers of our KG children,

they look awesome and stimulating. Our Sports Day is another importantevent which we all are looking forward to .

“Children want the same things we want. To laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained and to be delighted.”

- Dr. Seuss

Sincerely,

Seema Jaffer
