h i Everyone! And Happy Howlidays from us -- Roscoe and Rusty. We are two bas- sador (bassett/labrador) broth- ers living at Beagles & Buddies Sanctuary. Like most orphaned pets, we once had a home of our own, but our human folks could no longer keep us. Thanks to Beagles and Buddies, we are safe and cared for while we wait for new guardians to adopt us. Did you know that since 1992 Beagles & Buddies has been taking in owner-released dogs and going to shelters all over Southern California to save pooches like us? And this summer, we placed our 8,500th dog in a new home. But we (especially the human volun- teers at B&B) just can’t keep up the good work without your help! Beagles & Buddies is a pri- vately operated, no-kill dog sanctuary, and a registered non-profit 501(c) 3 corporation. As such, we don’t get govern- ment funding, and thus really depend on adoptions, grants, and your tax-deductible gifts to pay for shelter expenses, like feeding us and making sure we get needed vet care. Our costs have increased; for instance, with so many dogs coming from out of state, now we all must be heart worm tested and given preventative medicine monthly. Good for us; bad for the budget. We also made some much-needed improvements to the shelter this year, and even took in some Louisiana dogs. You can read more about these pups in the rest of the Newsletter and on our web site. Some have already been adopted, but some are still waiting, like us. Beagles & Buddies is relying on your help to con- tinue our rescue efforts, keep our pooches comfortable and find them great new homes. Please, remember us this holi- day season, won’t you? Beagles & BuddiesHelping Louisiana DogsThe Veggie pups (Yam, Eggplant,Rutabaga & Punkin) and Savannahall came from our sister sanc-tuary Broken Down Dogs -which was located about fourhours north of NewOrleans. Our trucker friend, KarinCampbell drove about a dozenBDD dogs to us to make roomfor BDD to accept Katrinaorphans - which they did bythe hundreds! We also rescuedanother dozen pooches put atrisk in public shelters because ofspace taken by Katrina dogs. Some have been adopted, butLady, Jez, Hula and Shugahremain. Our one true Katrinabeagle, Bourbon has not beenclaimed by his people and is nowready for adoption. Not surpris-ing, he is terrified to be in thestreet - he loves playing with otherdogs and people inside the safetyof B&B's grounds.

Little Benji:wants nothingmore than aloving homefor his holiday

surprise. Many of his friendsat B& B want the same thing.Won’t you please open yourheart and home....

Ellen: (Age: 7yrs, Weight:40lb, Sex: F,Breed: HoundMix). Ellen is

an elegant lady. Wants tobe your one and only, butwill co-exist peacefully withanother polite and friendly,non-aggressive pooch.House-trained and low-key;she will sit for treats, veryeasy to be around and love-ly companion.

Kojack: (Age:6 yrs, Weight:40lb, Sex: M,Breed: beaglegrande). This

guy is a tremendous ballplayer . He can throw forhimself and play catchalone - or will roll ball foryou. Great companion.Fine w/ other dogs, too.Acts much younger than hisyears!

Dominique:(Age: 1 yr,Weight: 25lb,Sex: F, Breed:beagle, mix)

Dominique is a pretty whiteand red girl w/ legs slightlylonger and ears just a bitshorter than a pure beagle. She is very shy at first -we're socializing her withsome friendly pooches bothsmaller and larger. Her bestfriend is Mickey who sheadores so it would be nice ifthey were rehomed together....

Mickey: (Age:1 yr, Weight:33lb, Sex: M,Breed: beaglex) Just all

'round bigger than a beagle.Shelter is saying "harrier"....He's Snoopy colored - black& white. Very friendly, out-going, happy guy. Hope youcan visit him soon! Passedhis cat test w/ flying colors -very nice on the leash - wellmannered boy! Best friendof little Dominique.

Yukon andJack: (Age: 4-6yrs, Weight:30+lb, Sex:M, terriers).

These brothers have livedtogether their whole lives.

Their folkswere sad to givethem up andhope they canstay together. They are very
