1 INTRODUCTION

This Start Guide will give you a comprehensive picture of the information on the VIDAwebsite called Workshop Support Guide. This guide will also explain the support thatfollows after you have purchased a VIDA supscription.At the end of this guide you will find brief information in three steps regarding how tosubscribe to VIDA. You will also find frequently asked questions (FAQs) about thesubscription.

2 WORKSHOP SUPPORT GUIDE

The Workshop Support Guide directs to you, who are working professionally withrepair and maintenance on Volvo cars. This site is also for car customers who areinterested in service and repair information for their Volvo car or who would like toorder owners information.The link to Workshop Support Guide is: http://vccs.volvocars.se/wsguide.

2.1 The VIDA tabUnder the tab VIDA in Workshop Support Guide you can find the answers to thefollowing questions:

● What exactly is VIDA?

● How can VIDA support you when you fault trace and repair a Volvo car?

● What kind of VIDA subscriptions can you choose?It is very important for you to make the correct choice for your situation.For some subscriptions you need a Vehicle Communication Tool in order to beable to communicate to or download software into the car. You need to buy thistool separately from the VIDA subscription.

● Does your PC and Internet connection meet the system requirements of VIDA?There is a possibility for you to download an application called VIDA CertificationAgent to check if your PC is suitable for VIDA.

2.2 The Tech Info Shop tabVolvo Cars Technical Information Shop (TIS) provides information related to VolvoCars aftermarket. This includes customer information, such as Owners Manuals, aswell as Workshop Information.Under the tab Tech Info Shop in Workshop Support Guide you will find the followinginformation about the Technical Information Shop (TIS):

● How to buy a VIDA subscription from TIS.

To be able to find the price for a VIDA subscription you first have to register in TIS asa company. This registration is free. The invoice amount for VIDA is presented afteryou have configured the preferred subscriptions and period under the Search tab inTIS.

After buying a VIDA subscription you will receive an e-mail containing informationregarding how to access additional user help guide. The user help is published on awebsite called VIDA ISS. The link to the website is: http://vccs.volvocars.se/vida/. Thissite is password protected. The navigation language of the site is English, but mostof the information is translated into the VIDA EU languages.On the VIDA ISS site you will find:

● The START GUIDE page with information how to activate your VIDA subscriptionand how you start working with VIDA.

● All VIDA documents and (installation) instuctions.

● The VIDA on Web application is accessible from Internet Explorer. If you havechosen a VIDA All-in-one subscription you will have to wait for the DVD whichwill be sent to you automatically.

● The procedure how to upgrade or renew your subscription.

● The lateset VIDA news.

VIDA supports these languages:Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Korean, Portu‐guese, Spanish, Swedish, Simplified Chinese, Thai, Traditional Chinese and Turkish.

need?VIDA comes in two different set-ups; VIDA All-in-one and VIDA on Web. TheVIDA All-in-one can be used by Workshops with poor bandwidth and forWorkshops with vehicle communication needs. The VIDA on Web subscrip‐tion options assumes that the Workshop has a good bandwidth since itrequires constant connection. Find out more at http://vccs.volvocars.se/wsguide in the menu tab VIDA, click on VIDA Subscription.

2. Have you the right system requirements?To run VIDA a PC and Internet connection is required. The document VIDASystem Requirements & Guidelines contains general information about VIDAsystem requirements. The link to the document is http://vccs.volvocars.se/wsguide in the menu tab VIDA, click on Download VIDA System Requirements& Guidelines.

3. Register in Technical Information Shop (TIS).To be able to find the price for a VIDA subscription you have to register in TISas a company. The registration is free. In the menu tab TECH INFO SHOP, in WORK‐SHOP SUPPORT GUIDE you will find the TIS Help instruction for independentoperators under the link TIS User guide.

What is VIDA?VIDA stands for Vehicle Information and Diagnostics Application. VIDA supportsworkshops in repairing and servicing Volvo vehicles, by providing service information,parts information, diagnostic faul tracing and software downloads integrated into onesingle application.What will it cost?To find out your estimated costs, you have to fill in your VAT number and register inTIS as a company. The link to TIS is: https://www.volvocarstechinfo.ford.com/vss/.That's the way Volvo can give you an estimated price. This registration is free andyour information will only be used for the quotation purpose.What kind of subscriptions can I choose?There are two subscriptions, VIDA All-in-one and VIDA on Web. VIDA All-in-one is alocal client application on your PC. The VIDA on Web subscription assumes that theWorkshop has a good bandwidth since it requires constant connection.VIDA is available for subscription in following time duration:

● 1 hour

● 1 day

● 30 days

● 90 days

● 365 days

What system requirements are needed?You will need a computer with an Internet connection and an e-mail address. Thesystem requires a PC with Windows XP or higher (cannot handle MAC-computers).If you are uncertain you have the possibility to download a free application to find outif your computer is suitable for a VIDA installation. The link to this application is: http://vccs.volvocars.se/wsguide in the menu tab VIDA, click on Download VIDA Certifica‐tion Agent.What kind of training do I need?As a VIDA subscriber you have access to the VIDA Support site (VIDA ISS). This sitewill give you instructions and news.In Technical Information Shop (TIS) you can purchase access to Volvo Cars Compe‐tence Portal (VCCP). This site will give you the web-based training you need. VIDAweb-based training consists of VIDA Basic Training, VIDA Classroom Training andMenu Pricing training. These courses will take about 5-8 hours to go through in total.
