Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C) for Micro, Small &Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India,

Shri Giriraj Singh visits IHGF Delhi Fair Autumn 2017

India's MSME sector that includes the

handicrafts sector has 6 crore micro, small

and medium sized enterprises. At this IHGF

Delhi Fair I am seeing their representation

through the several beautiful products of

home décor & utility displayed here. The

intricate carvings, the fine weaves, all

reflect the skills as well as means of hard

earned livelihood of our artisans. This

sector has a value chain connecting the

biggest of exporters to the smallest of

artisan enterprises. Converse to many

capital intensive sectors, handicrfats is an

employment generating sector that requires

very little investment. Today Indian

handicrafts have immense recognition and

patronage in the international market that

is only growing with time. However, our

handicraft exports share stand at less than

5% in the world export basket. There is a

lot of potential to be harnessed. I urge the

stakeholders of this industry to foster our

age old craft skills as well as our artisans

so that all segments of the value chain may

be benefitted. I would like to see more and

more women and SC & ST entrepreneurs

get access to funds from banks under the

Stand-up India initiative and would further

the Prime Minister’s wish to provide social

security to the poor in the sector at Re 1 per

month. This would be in line with his vision

of employment and livelihood to all.

Giriraj SinghMinister of State (I/C) for Micro, Small &Medium Enterprises, Government of India

During his visit to IHGF Delhi Fair Autumn 2017, Hon’ble Minister, Shri Giriraj Singh addressed the trade andtook a tour of the fair and was highly appreciative of the variety and quality of products from various craftpockets spread across the length and breadth of our country

50% of our

import are from India and the rest from

material. The Italian market has a lot of

scope for India textile products. In the

I have around 150 shops in Norway

dealing in home decoration. I am a

Around 30% of our imports are from

India and rest comes from China,

Indonesia, Vietnam, Pakistan and

turkey. Not all Indian products are

suitable for the Scandinavian market.

Only those that have neat lines and are

subtly designed find preference in our

market. We prefer Indian suppliers for

their edge in good raw material as well

as quality & patterns, especially in

textiles. We look forward to

innovations as people in our market

bring in variations to home décor with

changes in season.
