The new

Passat

Alltrack

• New Passat Alltrack combines

the best of on-road and off-

road driving

• Passat Alltrack with all-

terrain design and 4MOTION all

-wheel drive as standard

• Ideal towing vehicle with

towing capacity of 2,200 kg

and innovative Trailer Assist

Wolfsburg / Munich, September 2,

2015 – Volkswagen has developed

the new Passat Alltrack for all fre-

quent leisure and business drivers

who do not only drive on paved

roads. The progressively designed

all-rounder might also pull boat or

horse trailers, covers long distanc-

es with effortless superiority and

offers maximum connectivity. The

estate and SUV crossover puts

himself on the scene with individu-

alized bumpers and flared wheel

arches and transports – with a lug-

gage capacity of up to 1,769 litres

– the things needed in life.

The new Passat Alltrack is a car

with features that keep what the

design promises. These include

modified bumpers with underbody

protection, sill extensions (also fit-

ted with underbody protection) and

rugged flared wheel arches; all

combine to make the body tougher

while also lending the vehicle its

own distinctive style. With a special

off-road mode, that comprises a

modified chassis (174 mm ground

clearance) and permanent all-

wheel drive, the Passat Alltrack ef-

fortlessly tackles

terrain that is

otherwise the

preserve of

SUVs. At the

same time, the

Passat Alltrack is

a comfortable

and fast long-

distance cruiser.

A turbo petrol

engine (TSI) and

three turbodiesel

engines (TDI) all

comply with the

Euro-6 emission standard. The TSI

develops 162 kW / 220 PS and a

powerful 350 Nm. The range of TDI

engines starts at 110 kW / 150 PS

and 340 Nm; two further engines

in the next power ratings deliver

140 kW / 190 PS (400 Nm) and

176 kW / 240 PS (500 Nm). The

240 PS engine is the highest

torque engine ever to be offered in

a Passat. A stop/start system and

energy recovery system are includ-

ed in the standard specification of

every Passat Alltrack. Volkswagen

offers the 150 PS TDI engine with

a manual 6-speed gearbox. All oth-

er versions come equipped with an

automatic dual-clutch gearbox

(DSG).

At The 4MOTION all-wheel drive

normally, only the front wheels are

driven, saving fuel. But as soon as

there is a risk of losing traction,

the rear axle is smoothly engaged

in a fraction of a second. Along

with a Haldex coupling that acts as

a longitudinal lock, the electronic

differential locks (EDS) integrated

in the electronic stability control

system (ESC) act as transverse

locks for all wheels. In addition,

the Passat Alltrack TSI with 220 PS

and TDI with 240 PS are equipped

with the additional function XDS+

on both axles. This system that is

available as an option for all other

Passat Alltrack versions optimises

the steering characteristic when

accelerating out of bends.

The Passat Alltrack comes with

driving mode selection as standard.

In addition to the familiar “Eco”,

“Comfort”, “Normal”, “Sport” and

“Individual” driving modes

(“Comfort” and “Individual” in

combination with adaptive chassis

control DCC), the additional “Off-

road” mode is an exclusive feature

of the Alltrack model series. Acti-

vating this programme with a push

of a button adapts all relevant driv-

ing and assistance systems, the

suspension and the engine and

gearbox control to off-road use. It

is also an ideal towing vehicle: the

Passat Alltrack can tow a permitted

trailer load of 2,200 kg on an 8%

and 12% incline (braked) via its

electrically folding hook. In addi-

tion, new Trailer Assist facilitates

manoeuvring with a trailer as the

car steers automatically when re-

versing.

Moreover, a pioneering range of

comfort, infotainment and driver

assistance systems is available for

the Passat Alltrack. These technol-

ogies include the latest ra-

navigation systems, a head-up dis-

play, “App-Connect” (Apple

“CarPlay™”, Google “Android Au-

to™” and “MirrorLink™”), “Media

Control” (tablet integration), “Car-

Net” with “Guide & Inform” (online

services) as well as the ambient

traffic monitoring system Front As-

sist including City Emergency Brak-

ing function with Pedestrian Detec-

tion that is a standard feature on

board the Passat Alltrack.

Golf GTI

Clubsport:

Anniversary model to mark the

40th birthday of the Golf GTI

• 265 PS anniversary model ac-

celerates to 100 km/h in 5.9

seconds

• A boost function increases

power output to over 290 PS

for a short time

• Expressive exterior with new

front bumper, side skills, rear

diffusor and multi-part roof

spoiler

Wolfsburg, September 9, 2015 – At

the beginning of next year, the

icon of the sporty compact class –

the Golf GTI – is celebrating its

40th anniversary. Volkswagen will

mark this historic event with a pro-

gressive special edition: the new

Golf GTI Clubsport. Now

Volkswagen is presenting the pro-

duction version of the new Golf GTI

Clubsport at the International Mo-

tor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt and, on

this occasion, offers a first look

ahead at the driving performance

of the most powerful production

GTI ever. The inventor of the “GTI”

is thus continuing the big tradition

of GTI anniversary models, as ex-

clusive special editions also marked

the 20th, 25th, 30th and 35th

birthdays. The turbocharged direct-

injection engine in the anniversary

model delivers an output of 195

kW / 265 PS, this is 35 PS more

than on the previous most powerful

Golf GTI. That, however, is far

from all. For a short time – for

about 10 seconds each time – the

driver can increase engine power

by an additional 10 per cent to

over 290 PS using a boost function.

This added power is activated

simply by kicking down the accel-

erator. The Golf GTI sprints to 100

km/h in 6.0 seconds with a 6-

speed manual gearbox; the version

with optional 6-speed dual-clutch

gearbox (DSG) is even faster at

5.9 seconds. The Golf GTI Club-

sport has a top speed of 250 km/h

(DSG: 249 km/h). A look at fuel

economy shows just how efficiently

the sports car converts engine

power into propulsion. With a man-

ual gearbox, consumption is 6.9

l/100 km (equivalent to 160 g/km

CO2); if power is transferred to the

front wheels by DSG, the figure

comes in at 6.7 l/100 km (155 g/

km CO2). Not only has Volkswagen

given the anniversary model's en-

gine more power, it has also exten-

sively revised the design, equip-

ment and aerodynamic fine-tuning

of the anniversary model. Due to

the high power output and signifi-

cantly improved downforce, the

dynamic performance of the Golf

GTI Clubsport propels it into the

domain of top-class motorsport.

This results in groundbreaking han-

dling properties at high speeds and

breathtaking cornering speeds.

The Golf GTI Clubsport is painted

in “Oryx White” (other colours

available); as a contrast, the roof

area comes in black. The

Volkswagen exterior designers cre-

ated a completely new front bump-

er, new side sills, a new rear dif-

fuser, a new multi-part roof spoiler

and exclusive forged alloy wheels

for the anniversary model. These

features immediately make the an-

niversary model stand out from the

familiar GTI models.

In terms of style, the side profile of

the Golf GTI Clubsport is based on

the original GTI version. To put this

in context: the first generation was

characterised by a wide black trim

stripe on the side between the

front and rear wheel arches at

bumper level. This stripe has now

been transferred to the side area of

the anniversary model, paying

homage to the 1976 Golf GTI, and

is enhanced with the lettering

“Clubsport”. The black trim stripe is

continued towards the front in the

new air deflector element of the

front bumper. The optional

“Bresica” 19-inch alloy wheels de-

signed especially for the new Golf

GTI Clubsport make a further dy-

namic statement. The anniversary

model is equipped as standard with

forged 18-inch alloy wheels that

are also newly designed. A fine de-

tail on the side are the high-gloss

black door mirror caps.

The redesigned roof edge spoiler

perfected in the wind tunnel is

much larger than its counterpart

on the current "GTI". There is a

narrow air gap between the roof

area that is entirely in black and

the wing-like spoiler placed above

it. The roof spoiler in high-gloss

black and “Oryx White” projects

upwards above the roof line. The

lower rear section has also been

individualised.

Seen diagonally

from behind, it is

noticeable that

the line of the

wrap-around

splitter of the

side line (below

the sill) is con-

tinued in the

large rear diffus-

er that is a new

development.

Here, too, the

colour is high-

glass black. The redesigned and

chrome-plated tailpipes of the twin

-pipe exhaust system have been

elegantly integrated in the diffuser;

the diameter of the tailpipes is

much larger than on the familiar

Golf GTI models. The LED rear

lights come in dark black-red.

The interior features iconic details

that are essential for every GTI;

they include the ergonomic sports

seats with a tailor-made look fea-

turing tartan fabric upholstery, red

topstitching, a gear knob in golf

ball design and a black headliner.

These insignia of sportiness have

been individualised or modified for

the Golf GTI Clubsport. According-

ly, the anniversary model features

folding racing bucket seats instead

of sport seats. The seats are par-

tially covered with Alcantara and

feature a honeycomb pattern in the

area of the backrests and seat

cushions; the backrest also incor-

porates, GTI lettering. A red line

enhances the seat belts. New trim

strips in “Honeycomb 40” design

(instrument strip, centre console

and doors) give the interior an

even more exclusive appearance.

Sporty decorative features include

Alcantara trim on the gear lever,

new lenses on the gear knob, the

Alcantara sport steering wheel

ised floor mats with red edging.

Tiguan in

Frankfurt • Presentation of the new SUV

at the Volkswagen Group Night

and the International Motor

Show (IAA)

• New design and new technol-

ogy for the Tiguan

Wolfsburg/Frankfurt, 14 September

2015 – The International Motor

Show (IAA) in Frankfurt will be the

stage for the presentation of the

new Tiguan. After selling over 2.64

million units of the first generation,

Volkswagen is revealing the latest

generation of the SUV at today's

Group Night and at the IAA that

begins tomorrow.

Volkswagen is show-

ing four versions* of

the new Tiguan at the

IAA (open to the pub-

lic: 17 to 27 Septem-

ber). The production

versions being pre-

sented are the excep-

tionally sporty Tiguan

R-Line, the classic on-

road model and an off

-road version tuned

specifically for off-

road use. Meanwhile,

the Tiguan GTE – a

concept vehicle with a

plug-in hybrid drive (160 kW / 218

PS of system power) – offers an

outlook on the future development

of the best-selling SUV.

The second generation of the best-

seller is the first Volkswagen Group

SUV to be based on the path-

breaking MQB (modular transverse

matrix) platform. It improves all of

the properties of the Tiguan. The

body proportions of the latest

Volkswagen SUV are perceptibly

sporty, and the design shows cha-

risma from all perspectives. Its

weight was also reduced by over

50 kg compared to the previous

model. Meanwhile, the amount of

space offered in the interior and

luggage compartment has taken a

gigantic leap forward. The boot

volume of the new Tiguan can take

on up to 615 litres of cargo (loaded

to the back of the rear bench);

when the rear seat backrests are

folded, its capacity increases to

1,655 litres. This represents a gain

of 145 litres.

The engines are also characterised

by gains in efficiency. A broad

range of eight engines is available;

they have power outputs ranging

between 85 kW / 115 PS and 176

kW / 240 PS. The drives were

made more powerful, yet they are

up to 24 per cent more fuel-

efficient than those of the previous

model. The new 4MOTION Active

Control also lets drivers adjust the

all-wheel drive system more indi-

vidually and easier to all possible

driving conditions. Thanks to its

impressive drive concept, the Ti-

guan has been engineered for trail-

er loads of up to 2,500 kg. The as-

sistance systems per-

fect the vehicle's con-

venience, dynamism

and safety (including

Front Assist with City

Emergency Braking

and Pedestrian Moni-

toring, Lane Assist

and the Automatic

Post-Collision Braking

System, all as stand-

ard). Online services

electronics integrate all of today's

smartphones of the Apple and An-

droid worlds into the functionality

of the infotainment systems via

This has resulted in a Tiguan with

which Volkswagen is redefining

broad aspects of the A-SUV seg-

ment.

Exclusive

update for

the Golf

Cabriolet

• Golf Cabriolet for model year

2016 has sportier exterior, new

colours and an upgraded interi-

or

Wolfsburg, 28 August 2015 – The

Golf Cabriolet is one of the most

successful open-top cars on the

German market and one of the

most popular of its kind in Europe.

At the Frankfurt International Mo-

tor Show (IAA), Volkswagen is pre-

senting a visually extensive update

of the four-seater soft-top best

seller.

The changes are easy to identify by

the considerably sportier front

bumper, the striking side sills and

sporty accents on the rear bumper.

Moreover, the convertible can now

be configured even more individu-

ally. Besides six new exterior col-

ours, there is an additional soft-top

colour and six new wheel designs.

In the interior, there is a new gen-

eration of steering wheels and new

trim elements as well as new de-

signs for the cloth and leather

seats.

The range of engines in the Golf

Cabriolet was also uprated to mod-

el year 2016 and switched to the

Euro 6 emissions standard. The

four petrol (TSI) and two diesel

engines (TDI) in total are direct-

injection turbo engines with power-

ful torques to match.

Also new on board are the Compo-

sition Colour and Composition Me-

dia radio/infotainment systems. As

a supplement to the Composition

Media, the Discover Media naviga-

tion system is available. With the

new infotainment systems,

Volkswagen has brought Car-Net,

featuring Guide & Inform, and App

Connect smartphone integration to

the Golf Cabriolet.

Guide & Inform allows the use of

Internet-based information chan-

nels, which include Online Traffic

Information, News, the Vehicle

Status Report and Weather. In ad-

dition, car drivers can discover res-

taurants, museums or cinemas in

unknown surroundings or access

information on free parking spaces

in car parks and integrate them in

the navigation system's route guid-

ance.

the course of the ten rallies, the

Polo R WRC has claimed a total of

19 podium finishes, thanks also to

the efforts of Andreas Mikkelsen.

Three title trebles:

Volkswagen’s motorsport fairy

tale continues

The next chapter in a motorsport

fairy tale: for the third time in a

row, all three titles in the FIA World

Rally Championship (WRC) go to

Wolfsburg. As such, the Polo R

WRC remains undefeated. When

Volkswagen’s World Rally Car made

its debut in 2013, it surprised

many by winning the title in the

Drivers’, Co-Drivers’ and Manufac-

turers’ Championships at the first

attempt. In 2014, Ogier, Ingrassia

and Volkswagen backed up this tri-

umph by successfully defending

their titles. The second generation

of the Polo R WRC has now contin-

ued the success story in 2015. Be-

fore Volkswagen, only four manu-

facturers had managed to win the

Manufacturers’ Championship three

times in a row: Lancia, Subaru,

Peugeot and Volkswagen’s current

rival Citroën.

Real thriller: the Rally Australia

and ‘Volkswagen Sunday’

Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia

went into the final 68.76 kilometres

of the Rally Australia just two car

lengths ahead of Kris Meeke/Paul

Nagle (GB/IRL, Citroën), who were

second overnight. Over the course

of the final day’s five special stag-

es, they extended this lead to 32.6

seconds. Their Volkswagen team-

mates Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka

Anttila started Sunday 2.6 seconds

off the lead, and eventually came

home 12.3 seconds behind Ogier/

Ingrassia.

Mikkelsen/Fløene ultimately went

unrewarded for their impressive

fightback. Like team-mates Lat-

vala/Anttila,

they kept Kris

Meeke and Paul

Nagle out of the

podium places

on all of the final

day’s stages, but

eventually had

to settle for

fourth place

overall. A late

arrival at a time

check earned

the Norwegians

a ten-second

penalty. In the end, they came up

just 5.9 seconds short of their sev-

enth podium of the season, finish-

ing behind Meeke/Nagle.

86 per cent win rate – Polo R

WRC the most successful car in

WRC history

31 wins from 36 rallies – with a win

rate of 86 per cent, the

Volkswagen Polo is by far the most

successful model of car in the his-

tory of the World Rally Champion-

ship, ranking ahead of such leg-

endary cars as the Lancia Stratos

and Delta, Audi quattro, Ford Fo-

cus, Peugeot 206 and the Subaru

Impreza. Volkswagen also reached

more milestones with the Polo R

WRC: since January 2013, 467 of a

possible 668 stage wins have gone

to the 318-hp four-wheel drive

powerhouse. In 2013 and 2014,

the Polo won twelve rallies in a row

across the two seasons to set a

WRC record for the longest winning

run in the history of the series. The

twelve victories in 2014 also saw

Volkswagen set the benchmark for

the number of race wins in one

season – a record that only

Volkswagen itself can equal in

2015.

these additional points went to the

Volkswagen drivers and co-drivers.

Sébastien Ogier and Julien In-

grassia clocked the fastest time,

ahead of team-mates Jari-Matti

Latvala/Miikka Anttila and Andreas

Mikkelsen/Ola Fløene. This marked

the 61st, 62nd and 63rd time in 30

Power Stages that Volkswagen had

picked up points.

Quotes after day three of the

Rally Australia

Sébastien Ogier, Volkswagen Polo

R WRC #1

“It is a fantastic feeling to be world

champion again! I am overjoyed.

The first World Championship title

will obviously always be rather spe-

cial, but the emotions are always

overwhelming every time. It was

an incredibly intense battle here in

Australia. Because the gap to Kris

and Jari-Matti was so small all

weekend, I had no time at all to

even think about the title. Even

this morning I only had one ap-

proach: flat-out. I am now just re-

ally happy that Julien and I have

won our third title with a victory. It

will probably take a while for what

we have achieved together with

our fantastic team over the past

three years to really sink in. The

fact that we also won the Manufac-

turers’ title with the Volkswagen

team is obviously the icing on the

cake.”

Jari-Matti Latvala, Volkswagen Polo

R WRC #2

“Winning all three titles here make

this a fantastic day for the

Volkswagen team. I am really hap-

py to have done my bit towards

this great suc-

cess. I tried eve-

rything again

today and kept

on pushing right

to the final

stage, even with

a cracked wind-

screen. Unfortu-

nately we came

up just short and

I will have to

settle for second

place today. On

the other hand, I

have extended my advantage over

third place in the overall standings.

Congratulations to my team-mate

Sébastien Ogier. He deservedly

won the rally and is also a de-

served world champion.”

Andreas Mikkelsen, Volkswagen

Polo R WRC #9

“I am totally happy with our perfor-

mance and had a really good rally.

We did our very best right from the

word go – in the end we had to

‘settle’ for fourth place. Based on

the actual driving alone, we could

even have finished third, as we

more than made up the 8.8 sec-

onds we trailed Kris Meeke by com-

ing into the final 70 kilometres or

so. However, we were handed a

ten-second penalty for checking in

too late ahead of the midday ser-

vice on Sunday. That was too much

for us to make up, although we had

a really good attempt. It is a

shame that we ultimately missed

out on our seventh podium of the

season by just 5.9 seconds – but

we have strengthened our grip on

third place in the World Champion-

ship. Looking back, I am generally

happy with the Rally Australia and

am looking forward to the remain-

ing rallies in France, Spain and

Great Britain.”

Jost Capito, Volkswagen Motorsport

Director

“What a fantastic rally. What a

dream result. And what a great

achievement to have wrapped up

all three titles so early in the sea-

son. The Volkswagen team excelled

itself today. Our drivers and co-

drivers had to pull out all the stops

in order to finish on the podium

here in Australia. Like the team be-

hind them, they did a flawless job.

You cannot be more proud of the

entire team than I am today. It is

always more difficult to defend a

title than it is to win it for the first

time. Defending it for a second

time is an even greater challenge.

The fact that our mechanics, engi-

neers, drivers, co-drivers, physios

and doctors, chefs and organisers

have once again achieved superla-

tive results and secured the WRC

titles earlier in the season than ev-

er before shows just what an ex-

traordinary team we have. Every-

one, without exception, is extreme-

ly motivated, and nobody ever

takes success for granted. Howev-

er, we certainly know how to cele-

brate – as we will prove today.”

And then there was ...

... a generous, friendly, affection-

ate, sporting, and definitely over-

whelming gesture. To celebrate

winning the World Championship

titles, Volkswagen had prepared

large congratulatory banners for

success in the Manufacturers’,

Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ competi-

tions. However, they did not reckon

on winning all three titles in one

go. As such, there was scarcely

enough space to hang up all of the

banners. Malcolm Wilson and his M

-Sport-Ford team generously of-

fered to help out by allowing

Volkswagen to use the freight con-

tainer positioned opposite the

Volkswagen service area. As such,

the 40-foot container was not

adorned in Ford colours for the fi-

nal service at the Rally Australia,

but in the colours of the French flag

to celebrate Sébastien Ogier and

Julien Ingrassia’s victories in the

Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ Champion-

ships. Merci!

And then there was also ...

... an early departure for the newly

-crowned world champions. Imme-

diately after the press conference

at the Rally Australia, Sébastien

Ogier, Julien Ingrassia and Motor-

sport Director Jost Capito set off on

a long journey to Frankfurt am

Main. Once there, they will attend

the Volkswagen Group Meeting,

which takes place ahead of the In-

ternational Motor Show (IAA).

Fresh from successfully defending

their World Championship titles,

the trio will be among the star

guests at the event, where the Polo

R WRC will also make an appear-

ance. They left Coffs Harbour for

Sydney at 18:00, from where they

will fly to Frankfurt via Dubai, ar-

riving just in time for the dress re-

hearsal and gala. However, nothing

will stand in the way of the three

world champions celebrating their

achievements appropriately. The

long-distance plane has its own

cocktail bar...

And, last but not least, there was

also ...

... a light-hearted wink. When the

Volkswagen team took to the podi-

um to celebrate its Manufacturers’

title, it did so not only adorned in

blue World Champion t-shirts, but

also, rather appropriately, sporting

white Smurf hats. The eye-catching

attire was also a reference to the

colourful Volkswagen team apparel

provided by partner Salomon,

which has earned great plaudits

from all sides since the start of the

year.
