From The Auxiliary PresidentThis is flu season and a big

thanks to all you sisters who step up and fill stations when someone is out sick.

Holiday Craft BazaarWe are having our Holiday

Craft Bazaar on Saturday, Nov.. 12 from 8a.m.to 3 p.m. See Cindy Peacemaker or call her at (530) 415-1398 to Viola Flieschhacker

From The Aerie PresidentHonor our veterans

Nov. 11 is Veteran’s Day. Remember those who served and others that gave all for our f reedom. Dis t r ic t 9 meeting was Oct.16 at Snohomish #195. We had a great time with our brothers. At District 9, we are donating to the hosting Aerie’s food bank

and raising funds for our furry friends at Paws or Noah. Will let you know which one we decide. Next District 9 meeting is at 12 noon in Everett #13.

Fall conference was about increasing membership. Grand has dropped Lynnwood’s membership by 50+. Talk to your friends and family who have not renewed, some may have just forgotten or have other reasons. Find out. Let’s better our efforts to make this club a really fun place to be a part of. Remember we all are equal members.Worthy President Jerry HeideJerry Heide

reserve a table for $15. Set-up will be Saturday morning 7 to 8 a.m. for vendors.

Our Auxiliary birthday party was well attended and a lot of fun. Everyone should be thinking of what we’re doing for the Children’s Christmas Party. It is coming upon us fast.

Remember, the Auxiliary sponsored Paddle Wheels is the first Sunday of the month at noon.

Stay healthy and safe on the highways,Vi Flieschhacker, Madam President

Suggestion BoxThere is a suggestion box in the entrance

hallway leading to the bar area at the club. There are papers to leave suggestions, ideas for improvements, complaints, etc. Some members have already given their input. How about you?

Club Manager The Trustees would like to thank each and every member and guest that comes in to help the Lynnwood Eagles #2888 prosper.

We’d like to update the members to what’s been happening in the trustee arena, the roof has been completed and is now warranted for 30 years. Yes, we paid cash, so no payments.

Next on the agenda is hopefully having an HVAC company get back to us with a bid to fix or replace the front unit above the bar area. Winter is not far away and believe us when we say that this has been a work in progress, with all trades in the building industry being extremely busy it’s been hard to nail one down. We’ll continue to use the portable heaters in the bar area until the time that we can get the correct information and have an operable unit on the roof. We must spend money wisely, as the seed for the money tree hasn’t sprouted.

We’ll be having the carpets cleaned before this goes to print, as well as putting in a couple of ozone machines to run overnight to kill any unwanted inhabitants, such as mold.

On another note there is a fundraiser being led by Jeanette Peterson, to help acquire the funds to put in a card reader, this is for the safety of all of our bartenders and volunteers as the world that

we live in becomes a land of a lot more “Urban Explorers.”

We’d like to give a warm welcome to our newest member of the trustee board Russ Pyle.

A big thanks goes out to Roy for his help with not only the sign, but his willingness to help in other areas where needed.

We hope that everyone will take a little time out of their own lives to come in and enjoy some of the happenings at the club.

Our search continues for a new club manager. One who is willing to step up and be an intricate part of the club, now and in the future. We hope the candidate will be one that will lead by example, be a positive person that can hopefully smile from time to time and be able to delegate, as the job is a plateful. In the meantime, Sally is a god send with all of her help and expertise.

We can never forget the volunteers that come in to take care of all facets of the running of the club; this is a fine team, so please remember to tip and thank them when you have the opportunity.Dave Stering, ChairmanDon DavesSteve MellingerLes StrawRuss Pyle

Yep, we were scared by all the little goblins that came knocking on Halloween night. Now we are getting ready for the Big Bird and family gatherings. This is the most beautiful time of year. With the leaves falling and the air so crisp, it is time for the hot apple cider and a warm fire in the fireplace.

Catching up on all the outings for the past couple of months. Our September outing was just so much fun. Our hosts for the weekend were the Alexs, the Alleys and the Stumps. Friday was laid back until the evening. It was movie night under the stars. Saturday, the games began. Stan built the toss boards and we had a blast tossing those bean bags. Then it was off to the car races. It was just like being at a “Pinewood Derby” when we were cub scouts. Remember those days? All the food was terrific and a wonderful time was had by everyone. Great job, Pat, Stan, Janet, Art, Dawn and Scott.

What really happened at the Cedars in October? Lots of food and fun. Friday, it was continental breakfast and a potato bake for dinner. Saturday, pancake breakfast with eggs and sausage. And as

promised the ponies were running. Yes, we had the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes all rolled into one day. All the jockeys were properly dressed by their stable team mates. All bets were placed and races began. What a hoot. That evening, it was our Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. All in all, it was a great way to end our camping season for 2016.

Happy birthday wishes are send to: Sandie Y, Tom R, Sharon S and Collin S. Happy birthday to each of you. You look so happy. Marriage looks good on you. So here’s wishing to a happy anniversary, Tom and Marlene; Wayne and Topsy; and Cindy and Stewart. Congrats to each of you.

Special Rays of Sunshine have been sent to Myrna and Collin. We all hope that you are improving daily. Should you know of any of our members not feeling up to par, please contact Dixie and she will be sure to send out the club’s special Rays of Sunshine.

Just a reminder: Our Christmas party and dinner is coming soon. The date is December 17 at Wandering Creek. You will be receiving your invitation with all the info regarding the party. The cost for the dinner is $40 a couple for a scrumptious

prime rib and salmon dinner with all the trimmings. Monies must be received no later than December 1. Please send your $20/$40 to Wayne Stevens. We will have a terrific evening.

Our club is always looking for new members. We are a fun group who like to get together once a month, March through October for our monthly campouts. We love to play cards (all kinds), swap stories, see what’s in the vicinity and just enjoy each other’s company. We meet the second Thursday of each month except December, January and February. Our meetings are at the Lynnwood Elks Lodge starting at 7 p.m. The only requirement is that you like to have fun and be a member of either the Elks or Eagles. Come on down and check us out. Dues are only $10 per member. We’d love to meet you.

Reminders: 1. your 2017 dues are due. Send a check in

the amount of $10 per member to Wayne Stevens. Dues can also be paid at the November meeting on the 10th.

2. Remember to support your Fraternal Order. It is your club and they need your support.

Stay safe on the highways and byways of RV’ing.

Hall for RentEating in the 1950s

• Pasta had not been invented. It was macaroni or spaghetti.

• Curry was a surname.• A take-away was a mathematical problem.

• Pizza? Sounds like a leaning tower somewhere.• Bananas and oranges only appeared at Christmas time.

• All chips were plain.• Oil was for lubricating, fat was for cooking.

Tea was made in a teapot using tea leaves and never green.• Cubed sugar was regarded as posh.

• Chickens didn’t have fingers in those days.• None of us had ever heard of yogurt..

• Healthy food consisted of anything edible.• Cooking outside was called camping.• Seaweed was not a recognized food.

• Kebab’ was not even a word, never mind a food.• Sugar enjoyed a good press in those days, and was regarded as being white gold.

• Prunes were medicinal.• Surprisingly muesli was readily available.

• It was called cattle feed.• Pineapples came in chunks in a tin; we had only ever seen a picture of a real

one.• Water came out of the tap. If someone had suggested bottling it and charging more

than gasoline for it, they would have become a laughing stock. • Everyone loved bacon and other pork products.

The one thing that we never ever had on at our table in the fifties… …was elbows, hats and cell phones!
