1. INTRODUCTION
The application software VES Matic Easy Manager gives an additional value to the VES Matic Easy
instrument developed by DIESSE Diagnostica Senese S.p.a.
Indeed, the software allows to manage, with a PC, the archive of many VES Matic Easy instruments as many
medical devices are connected to PC.
Once data are downloaded from the instrument, the application can perform a search by name, barcode
and date.
For each sample, it is possible to insert detailed information of the patient.
Each research can be printed.
The software can do statistics on the whole database or on selected research fields (e.g. daily statistics or
single patient statistic).
1.1 STARTING APPLICATION
To start the application VES Matic Easy Manager just click on the corresponding icon.
The VES Matic Easy instrument can be connected to PC before or after starting the VES Matic Easy
Manager application.
1.1.1 MAIN SCREEN
When the application gets started, it is necessary to wait a few seconds so that the PC recognizes the
connection to the VES Matic Easy. In case of successfully identification the following frame will appear
(Picture 1.1):

On the top of the picture there is the software menu.
On the left box is shown the connected instrument and its status, that will be indicated with a yellow circle
if the instrument is not in use, with a green circle if the instrument is working.
If it is the first time that this software is being used, there will be no data displayed on file archive.
Otherwise, on the right box will be displayed the last samples analyzed. (Picture 1.2)

1.1.2 DATA VIEWS
In the main screen you can view the data obtained in each session. Placing the cursor in the box of the
chosen sample and clicking on it, results will be shown on the screen (Picture 1.3).

On the top of the picture the number of the exam, the date and the time when the sample was carried out
will be displayed.
There will be also displayed the name and barcode of patient, the results of VES obtained in the first and
the in the second hour, when calculated. If both results are shown, also Katz index will be displayed.
Furthermore the position of the samples in the instrument and any remarks about the patient will be
indicated.
Clicking on “Change personal data”, it will be possible to add or change information about the patient, as
shown in picture 1.4.

Here it will be possible to add name and surname, date of birth, sex and any remarks about the patient.
When the data are saved they will be in the database, but still editable.
The “Print” button allows to print data view and the “Close” button allows to return at the main screen.

2. DATA SEARCH
From main menu it is possible to research data in the archive clicking on the window “Search” (Picture 2.1).

On the left box it is possible to enter the different available search filters that, depending on the type of
search you want to make, can be used individually or in combination.
The search filters are:
• Barcode research
• Name research
• Date research
Date research can be done by:
• Current day
• Last week
• Last month
• Time period (start-end date). If there is no date selection, all the dates in the archive will be
displayed.

Once the search parameter has been selected, the desired sample will be shown (Picture 2.2)

All the concerning data will be printed just clicking on the “Print” button (Picture 2.3).

During printing phase, out of range results (paragraph 4.2) will be printed in Red.

2.1 STATISTICS
Clicking “Search” in the main screen, a single sample (Picture 2.4) or more samples statistics can be shown
(Picture 2.5).

Calculated statistics are the average ESR values obtained in the first hour and in the second hour if this has
been calculated; further to this, the variance of the ESR values obtained in the first hour and in the second
hour if this has been calculated.
3. QUALITY CONTROL
By opening the “Quality Control” window in the main menu and clicking button “Add” it is possible to insert
parameters of the controls (Picture 3.1).

4. SETTING
The “Setting” window in the main menu shows instrument setting.
4.1 INSTRUMENT
The “Instrument” button allows to view the serial port connected to the VES Matic Easy device (Picture
4.1).

4.2 LABORATORY
Clicking on the “Laboratory” window it is possible to insert information about the name of the laboratory,
and the reference range of the ESR on which the laboratory research is based by sex and age, as shown in
picture 4.2.

The “Quality Control” window shows the control parameters (Picture 4.3).
