Godinymayin is a meeting place for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to gather and share art and culture through:

The auditorium at Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre is available to hire for forums, conferences and meetings. Facilities include: sound, lighting and audiovisual equipment for hire, cabled and wireless internet access, power points and an outdoor terrace. See our website for more details.

The K SPACE Community Gallery program is an opportunity for emerging Katherine region artists to showcase their work. The program runs concurrently with main gallery exhibitions.

Our retail space offers a range of handmade gifts, books, exhibition catalogues and works of art from local and regional NT art centres and independent artists.

PerformancesFashion FuturesTHURSDAY 1 MARCH

Fashion Futures is a fun personal development, education and training program that builds the self-confidence, resilience and ambitions of young Aboriginal women in Katherine. Using the platform of fashion and modelling, and culminating in a fashion show on 1 March, the program was delivered by Enterprise Learning Projects and Magpie Goose to young women in Katherine in January/February 2018.

A partnership between GYRACC, WOW Australia and Magpie Goose.

Thomas Murray and the Upside Down RiverSATURDAY 7 APRIL

This professional theatrical production from the multi-award winning screenwriter of Last Cab to Darwin presents a thrilling new Australian drama about a family who have been farming along the Darling River for five generations and the challenges that long term friendships can bring.

Featuring an all-killer, no-filler cast of Australian stars, talented newcomers and international performers. Live in Katherine for one night only. This show is guaranteed to sell out so book early.

Big Bear Brown has gone missing and it is up to Professor Silly and Tulip to find him and save the picnic – because what’s a teddy bear’s picnic without your favourite teddy!!! This musical adventure is jam packed full of comedy and music designed specifically for children 3–7yrs.

This exciting musical is a tribute to the legendary country singer who died tragically at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The musical play, complete with down-home country humour, heart-felt emotion and audience participation, includes Patsy’s unforgettable hits including Walkin’ After Midnight, I Fall to Pieces and Crazy.

Visual artsUndiscovered: Michael Cook8 FEBRUARY – 31 MARCH

Undiscovered is a photographic exhibition by Indigenous contemporary artist Michael Cook that re-interprets the idea of the ‘discovery of Australia’ by Captain Cook. The luscious, large-scale images re-present the colonial project from an Indigenous perspective.

A touring exhibition from the Australian Maritime Museum

Ngerringkrrety – We Hold Strong 6 APRIL – 26 MAY

This exhibition will be the world premiere of new paintings, works on paper, sculptural weavings and film from the remarkable artists of Peppimenarti. Ngerringkrrety emphasises the power and legacy of art from the Durrmu Art Centre. The exhibition is co-curated by elder and internationally renowned painter Regina Pilawuk Wilson and GYRACC curator, Clare Armitage.

Fecund: Fertile Worlds7 JUNE – 21 JULY

This exhibition showcases artists from the NT and across Australia whose work addresses the deep relationship between humans and the natural world. Fecund, meaning highly fertile or abundant new growth, presents a collection of contemporary works that inspire conversation and contemplation about our capacity for renewal. Fecund generates a unique opportunity for creative dialogue and will feature artist and curator talks. Toured by Artback NT.
