Conventional Ventilation:

Most of the ventilation system, conventional and even most modern ventilation are designed and work on the basis of worst-case scenario.

Provide fix rate of air flow, air exchange irrespective of level of occupancy or air quality (AQ).

Leading to huge amount of energy and revenue wastage.

Energy and environmentally inefficient system.

Demand Controlled Ventilation (DCV):

Regulate ventilation requirements, fresh air supply and exhaust airVentilation depend on demand rather than supplyLesser need to condition the intake-airMonitor space occupancyMaintain indoor air quality – IAQMeet LEED USA, ASHREE, BCA standardsReduce sick building syndromes Make better , healthier working environmentEnergy efficient method 3

Why DCV by IAQ not by CO2 Monitoring:

CO2 sensor measure and monitor just CO2(Carbon Dioxide) concentration in the ambient air. Air quality change by nor only CO2 conc. , but also volatile organic compound (VOC).

Eg. In fresh painted room, CO2 sensor will show 350-400 ppm concentration, hence would not trigger ventilation process. But air quality sensor would also monitor VOC compound, so air quality sensor would be reading higher and hence can trigger ventilation process to better the indoor air quality.

What affect air quality:Air quality is affected by (list not exhaustive):Perfume, phenyl moppingHeating of pc, laptop, printer, electronic productsBreathing of clothes, human breathingCarpetsWall paints, wooden liquor etc.Varnish, leather etc.Body odour, sweat etc.UPS, Battery rooms and many more

Advantages:

9

Huge energy(power) saving to the tune of 60-80% (supported by

many international papers and analysis)

Quick payback period (about 3-9 months)

Huge reduction in system operating cost

Reduction in Global Warming thereby green house gas

saving– Environment friendly and Qualifies as an essential

part of a Green Building & smart cities.

Cost Benefit Analysis:

12

Very low payback period of 3-9 months (supported by many international papers, analysis and commercial application)

60-80% energy saving lead to huge operating cost reduction

Concept and application is eligible for carbon credits, which will further reduce in payback period and provide additional income
