title of this book is Mayday! Mayday! What do you think Mayday, Mayday means?

o When someone is in danger and needs to be rescued they can send out a message saying Mayday, Mayday. This tells other people that someone is in danger and needs help.

o What could you say if you were in danger and needed to be rescued? Help or Mayday, Mayday.

Do a picture walk and discuss what is happening on each page. (Do not read the text) Encourage and support students to use phrases and complete sentences when talking about the pictures.
