All “admission” money as well as donations throughout the week were donated to the West Monroe Civitan Smiles Park at Kiroli Park. Mrs. Sue and I were shooting for the 3 rd -6 th graders while Fr. Mark and Fr. Lijo were shooting for the PK-2 nd graders. The team that made the most baskets in a certain amount of time won a free dress day for their grades. My basketball skills were tested but in the end, the teams tied so all of the students received a free dress day the next day. Everyone left happy! I want to encourage families with children to attend our Family Adoration and Reconciliation every Monday from 6:30pm-7:30pm. This is a wonderful way to start off your week and it gives families a chance to worship and pray together as well as practice being reverent inside God’s house. Of course, there’s always traditional Adoration every Tuesday from 8:00am – 5:20pm that everyone is also encouraged to attend. At 5:20pm we have the Benediction and Reposition of the Blessed Sacrament followed by the Holy Mass at 5:30pm. Have a great week and I’ll see you at the church (or schools). Fr. Keith

The tradition of the Vocations Chalice is widespread across the country. Each year at this time, Jesus Good Shepherd entrusts a special chalice to the care of a volunteer family for each of the weeks during Lent. As there are six Sundays in Lent, only six families will be able to adopt the Chalice. The family places the chalice in a place of honor in their home for one week. During this week, the family prays for vocations using the pray-er provided or one of their own choosing. The chalice is a visual reminder that the precious blood of Our Lord has saved and redeemed His people, and that He continues to call men and women to serve Him. While the individual families have the privilege of hosting the Vocations Chalice, the rest of us are called to pray for the family and for all of our young people to be alert to God’s voice in their hearts. Please call Mary Frances at 398-9907 to sign up.

THE VOCATIONS AWARENESS COMMITTEE Meets this Tuesday, February 3, 2015 immediately following the Vocations Prayer Service. The Prayer Service follows the 5:30 P.M. Mass. We extend an invitation to all parishion-ers to attend the prayer service and to become active mem-bers of the Vocations Awareness Committee. The Commit-tee sponsors a number of activities throughout the year to develop an awareness of vocations in our Catholic families. Can you spare an hour or so to foster more vocations?
