Vantage Plus 4.06.2 Introduction Sheet COMPILED BY: MATTHEW R. BAUD DEVICE ANATOMY-Getting to Know the Hardware of the Vantage FRONT PANEL KEY FUNCTION ON/OFF Turns the device ON or OFF. If you turn the Vantage off with this butt on, you must use it t o turn the device back on. RECORDING MICROPHONE This is the small r ound hole near the top right of the case. When you record messages, s peak toward this area. BATTERY CHARGING When you plug in the charger, the "Charging" light flashes. A ra pid flash indicates fast-charging; a sl ow flash indicates that the battery is charged but it will continue to trickle-charge as l ong as the charger is plugged in. BATTERY LOW When this light flashes, the batteries need to be charged. Plug in the charger. HEADPOINTING If you are using a head pointer, this area tracks its movements TOOLBOX Takes you to the Toolbox where you can use the system menus. CHOOSE ACTIVITY * Press this t o toggle thr ough your Activity R ow. SETUP * This key all ows you to pr ogram overlay keys without going to the Toolbox. It works with the MODIFY PAGE, MODIFY ACTIVITY, ASSIGN CORE KEYS and STORE menus and the Modify Item within an Activity or Page menu. * Keys 1 and 2are User Defi ned keys. They have been pre- pr ogrammed f or you to perf orm some often-used functions. You can re- pr ogram them to do whatever you wish. RIGHT SIDE PANEL Serial Port- Use this f or com puter emulation using a null modem serial cable. Switch Connectors- Plug single or dual switches into these two connectors. USB Cable Connector- Use this f or com puter emulation with a USB cable. Standard USB Connector- Plug the USB flash drive in here. LEFT SIDE PANEL Battery Door: The door catch is on the bottom of the case. To open the battery door, place the Vantage face down on a flat surface. Insert a small flathead screwdriver under the sl ot between the door and the catch and press down on the catch. The door will pop open.
