The UN MDG are eight goals that all 191 UN memberstates have agreed to try to achieve by the year 2015.

The UN Millennium Declaration, signed in September

2000 commits world leaders to combat poverty, hunger,disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation, and

discrimination against women.

MDG 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger

WHO is working with countries to:

Assist in planning and conducting nutritional surveys;

Analyze and interpret nutritional survey results;

Support development of nutritional surveillance

Integrate nutrition support with HIV and TB;

to develop national nutrition plans and policies;

development

WHO has developed global indicators for availability,

price and affordability of essential medicines.

WHO provides pharmaceutical manufacturers withthe information they need to produce quality, safe,

effective essential medicines to address leading publichealth concerns.
