His love and grace covers us with His strength and power and He promises to never leave or forsake us, even if we may walk through the valley of the shadow of death. Jesus lived in a world of evil and this evil pressed in on Him with outward threats of death and destruc- tion and inward threats buried within His inner core, like with Judas. However, Jesus was never defeated by these strong attacks and He was able to keep His integrity, His Godly character, and the focus on His mission and ministry. His life and example give all of us hope because the same spirit that was alive and worked in Him lives in us. John 11:25 (NLT) 25 Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Romans 8:11 (NLT) 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. The above two verses proclaim that although we may physically die, we will certainly be resur- rected and this is all made possible because we have the same Spirit of God in us that raised Jesus As a citizen of Hawaii and of the United States, I am concerned with the rise of lawlessness and evil that is growing in all of our communities. As I try to keep informed about what is happening in our state and nation, as well as throughout the world. I see corruption and evil to be so common that many are discouraged and believe that nothing can be done to turn things around. It is especially discouraging when corruption and evil are elevated to seem good and okay. Dear people, we as Christians need to be a peculiar people who are deeply devoted to loving Jesus with ALL of our heart, mind, and soul. It is imperative that our love and devotion NOT be compromised in any way. If we compromise our relationship to Jesus, we will become a part of the problem instead of a part of the solution. As evil continues to gain ground, it is my firm belief that it will take all of us, committing ourselves to firmly and radically love and obey Jesus in belief, life, and action in order to turn this sweeping tide. Already, this sweeping tide has affected the lives of men, women, and children all over our world. We are also observing that this tide is edging into our own communities. Therefore, we have to understand that all of us and all of our loved ones stand in jeopardy. But enough of being dark and negative. We have much to be positive and hopeful about. We have Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and He is great- er than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4 (NLT) 4 But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. Our love and confidence in Jesus continued on next page

from the dead. This same Spirit who lives in us is greater than the spirit who lives in the world (Satan).

Reflect further on the fact that John 4:4 says that we belong to God. He loves and cares for us so much that He commissions His Holy Spirit to live within us in victorious fashion. This victory is so powerful that Satan (who lives in this world) is destined for defeat and destruction. This is a promise and an absolute truth. You depend on this truth so much that without a doubt you can trust your whole life on Jesus.

I am deeply concerned over all of the evil and corruption that surrounds us, but dear people of Valley Isle Fellowship, we do not have to fear! We just need to love Jesus with ALL of our heart, mind, and soul. God has made some very powerful promises to us, but we have to radically accept and commit ALL of ourselves to Him in order to powerfully and effectively appropriate the full measure of these promises. Fear not, for He is with us!!!

*Japan-“Please join us in a day of prayer and fasting for Ja-pan’s city of Yokohama. As the capital city of Kanagawa Pre-fecture, Yokohama lies on the Tokyo Bay, south of Tokyo. It is the second-largest city in Japan in population after Tokyo and the most populous municipality of Japan. It is a major commercial hub of the greater Tokyo area. Yokohama devel-oped rapidly as Japan’s prominent port city following the end of the country’s relative isolation in the mid-nineteenth cen-tury and is still one of Japan’s major ports today. Yokohama is known for its historic port area of Kannai, Yokohama Chi-natown, the Doll Museum, and the fashionable Motomachi shopping area. The Lord continues to show his faithfulness in opening doors of opportunity for the Kanagawa Team to partner with local churches and local Christians. Pray that team members will be strengthened to be faithful in making the most of these opportunities. Pray that the Lord will open their mouths to share God’s vision with local people and that they will be strengthened to equip them effectively for the Lord’s mission. Pray that the hearts of local believers will be opened to fully embrace God’s vision and submit themselves to the fulfilling of his mission.”

* Southern Yemeni Arabs of Yemen-(YEH-muh-nee) - The people of southern Yemen have been surviving in the flash-point of a war zone. Disease, malnutrition, and crossfire is deadly. How they suffer! Please pray today for healing and hope for the people of southern Yemen..
