GUARANTEEThe guarantee is 12 months whenemployed in 1-shift = 8 hours/day.On 2-shift or more intensive operationthe guarantee period is reducedaccordingly.Only valid with original parts.

The System

The vacuum pump is the heart of the systemand comes in various sizes. The air tube isdivided into two parts. One part is installedbetween the vacuum pump and the air filterand the other between the air filter and thetop swivel.A suction foot is fitted to the suction head.

InstallationThe vacuum pump can be mounted in awide variety of places and may only beconnected by an authorised electrician.When in suitable position, connect to thepower supply. A motor circuit-breaker mustbe fitted and set to the nominal currentshown on the motor serial plate.

Check the direction of rotation at the start oftesting.

Section one of the air hose is fitted betweenthe pump and the air filter.Hose clamps should be used.

VM 100/120/140 come with a reducingsocket, which is placed inside the filter inlet.The filter inlet and outlet are marked with anarrow.The filter should be fitted where it iseasy to reach.

Section two of the air tube is fitted betweenthe air filter and the top swivel. Hose clampsshould be used. The lift tube is suspendedfrom the top swivel in the crane system/jibcrane trolley. The lift unit must hang freely sothat unnecessary wear is avoided.The overhead crane system/jib crane mustbe designed for minimum 1.5 x liftingcapacity of the lift.

The suction foot is fitted with two or fourscrews directly to the suction head.

The touch bolt is fitted with the head of thebolt about 10-20 mm below the edge of thesuction foot.

With the suction foot for sacks attached, thebolt head is installed approximately 10 mmabove the edge of the suction foot.

Suspension should be adjusted so that thesuction foot does not reach the floor. Leaveat least 15 cm free between the floor andthe lowest part of the suction foot.

During assembly you must make sure thatthe lift tube can be moved freely and that itdoes not jam or become exposed tounnecessary wear.

Plan the dimensions of the crane system orjib crane so that you can work withVacuEasylift over the whole handling area.Remember that a jib crane is more effectiveif the lifting equipment is more often used atthe outer part of the jib arm.

Make sure that the crane system/jib crane ishorizontal so that the lift tube does not movelaterally by its own weight.

The filter has a control valve to reduce thelifting speed when handling light loads.

Balance the unit with and without load to aconvenient level for the operator. Thisensures that the control handle is withincomfortable reach.

1. Always balance the unit WITH LOAD first.Loosen the lock nut and turn the screwcarefully until the balance position is reached.Adjust until balance is achieved.

2. Proceed to balance WITHOUT LOAD.

Operating instructions

Move the lift tube so that it can be placeddirectly over the load. Lower the suction foottowards the load by pressing the operatinghandle downwards. Allow the suction foot togrip the load. Lift the load by squeezing theoperating handle upwards. Lift the load torequired position and lower it by pressing theoperating handle down. The suction foot isreleased from the load by pressing theoperating handle right to the bottom.

MaintenanceVacuEasylift is a very safe product to operatebut needs regular inspection.

Check for mechanical wear on the lift andair tube.

The air filters (filter unit and suction foot)should be cleaned at regular intervals. Asuitable interval depends on what has beenlifted, the amount of air pollution, and thesize of the air filter. Empty the filter insert andcontainer and clean carefully using reducedcompressed air. Replace rubber gasketsproperly when finished.

It is important that the gasket is fittedcorrectly. Check the suction foot’s rubbergasket for wear.

It is very important that all overhead systemsare regularly inspected. Here are somesuggestions to help you with inspections:

Check that trolleys run smoothly, both withand without a load.

Check that the bolts and pins are not wornand that they are in the right place.

Other overhead systems may have otherinspection points and procedures. Failure tofollow the safety regulations could result inpersonal injuries. Refer to separate manualsfor these systems.

The swivel contains a non-return valve,which automatically closes in the event ofpower failure. The load sinks to the groundin a controlled manner.

To ensure function, the non-return valvemust be tested at the same intervals as filtercleaning.

Accessories

VacuEasylift can be delivered with extraaccessories.

Large air filter. A larger air filter is neededin areas where there is an increased level ofair pollution.

Quick release. In order to makeVacuEasylift more flexible, you can fit a quickrelease system on the suction head and thesuction foot.

Silencing cover. In some workplaces, thereis a need to reduce the sound level. Thesound cover conceals the pump and restrictsengine noise.

Lift tube cover. The lift tube cover is used toreduce wear on the lifting hose.

Remote control. Use the remote control tostart and stop the vacuum pump.

Angle adapter. The angle adapter allows thesuction foot to swing 90º from a verticalgripping position to a horisontal unloadingposition.

Bottom swivel. The difference between thetop swivel (which is standard on all models)and the bottom swivel (which is an accessory)is that the top swivel rotates the complete liftunit 360º and the bottom swivel rotates thesuction foot and the load only.

WARNING!

The operator must be trained on theproduct.All instructions in the manual must befollowed.

A motor circuit breaker must be used.

The overhead system must be installed byqualified technicians and all safetyinstructions must be followed.

When in operation the operator must notplace his head above the unit.

When in operation the operator must not beunder a hanging load.

Maintenance instructions must be followed.

Service record must be accessible forinspection.

Use only original TAWI parts.

The touch bolt must not be removed.

The SWL (max lifting capacity) must not beexceeded.

The operator must use two hands whenhandling the unit.

The lift tube must be used only in a verticalposition.

Use vacuum power only to handle the load.

All connections and parts must be checkedregularly for wear, including all partsconnecting the overhead system and theunit.

The vacuum pump must not be taken apart.

The electric installations must be carried outby a qualified electrician.

A load must never be left hanging for anextended period of time. This can cause thevacuum pump to overheat.

Any modifications to the product must becarried out by qualified TAWI technicians.

Troubleshooting

If the VacuEasylift will not lift:

Use a vacuum testing plate to find theproblem!

1. Check the weight of the load. It must notexceed the rated SWL of the unit. Test theunit with a light load using a non-poroussurface e.g. a steel plate. Check, and ifnecessary clean the air filter.YES - Go to 3

2. Has the vacuum pump started?NO - Start the pump. If it still does not work,a qualified electrician must check the pump.

3. Check the direction of rotation of thevacuum pump. Is air blowing from thesilencer?YES - Go to 4.NO . Change two phases over. This must becarried out by a qualified technician.

4. Is there any air leakage between thevacuum pump and the air filter?NO - Go to 5.YES - Tighten the clamps and, if necessarychange the air tube.

5. Is there any air leakage from the filterunit?NO - Go to 6.YES - Check the rubber seal underneath thelid of the filter unit. Close the bleed-off valveon the lid of the filter unit.

6. Is there any air leaking from the air tubebetween the top swivel and the filter unit?NO - Go to 7.YES - Tighten the clamps and, if necessarychange the air tube.

7. Check the lift tube for wear and damage.This must be done with the tube extended toits maximum length.NO - Go to 8YES - Change the lift tube.

8. Is the suction foot fitted correctly, and, ifsupplied, is the quick-release coupling OK?YES - Go to 9.NO - The suction foot should be removedand refitted. Do not overtighten the fixingscrews. Problems can occur because thescrews are undertightened or overtightened.Overtightening may deform the top of thesuction foot.

9. Is the rubber gasket on the suction footdamaged or worn?NO - Go to 10.YES - Change the gasket.

10. Call your dealer for a service visit.

SPECIALINSTRUCTIONS FORVACUEASYLIFTsHANDLING HEAVYLOADS:

This VacuEasylift will perform providedthat all instructions are followedcarefully.Handling heavy weights in a safemanner means that extra care must betaken.We urge you to do so and waive allresponsibility should that not be thecase.

1. Installation must be carried out by acertified installer and TAWI assumes noresponsibility for installation andoverheadmaterial.

2. Only operators who received specialtraining may run the VacuEasylift.

3. Specified maximum lifting height andcapacity must never be exceeded.

4. No one must ever position himselfbelow a hanging load.

5. Protective shoewear must be usedwhen operating the VacuEasylift.

6. The unit must be checked before use.

In addition to the rules above, all otherinstructions in the manual must befollowed.You are now handling a heavy load,which can cause serious bodilyinjuries. Take extra care.

A TAWI representative must check andapprove installation before it is taken inuse.

WEEKLY INSPECTION:During the first 4 weeks, once a week,a TAWI representative is to be given freeaccess to check the units and meet theoperators.

LubricationThe following applies in connection with normal operating conditions (suction and ambienttemperatures 40 degrees C max and permissible total differential pressure): Afterapproximately 20.000 hours of operation, however after 2.5 years at the latest, the rolling-contact bearings and adjacent spaces should have the spent grease removed and refilledwith fresh grease. About 50% of the free space in the rolling-contact bearings and about65% of the adjacent grease spaces should be filled with grease. Only UNIREX N3 grease(ESSO) should be used.

IMPORTANT!A filter 10921 or 10927 must always be connected in front of the vacuum pump inletpipe.A motor protection circuit breaker must be used, set to the nominal motor current.

Connection of the three (3)-phase motorThe rated voltage of the motor mustcorrespond to the line-to-line voltageof the system. Check the motor serialplate to assure that the voltage andfrequency correspond to those of theelectrical supply. Instructions toconnect the motor in star connectionor delta connection are on the insideof the terminal box lid.Minimum cable area: 1.5 mm2Fuses: 16A
