    1A study on Employee Satisfaction

    INTRODUCTION

As business grows in size and revenue, they face the inevitable challenge of

breakdowns in communication between departments and between managers andemployees. The lack of consistent communication creates formidable satisfaction between

managers and their team members. Typically such organizations fall prey to culture of

beaureaucratic top down communication; while this worked in smaller companies

(where much of this communication was face to - face). Todays organizations must

discover ways to convert this one way communication into a bidirectional channel for

employees to provide their feedback to management.

    Employee satisfaction

Employee satisfaction is the terminology used to describe whether employees are

happy and contented and fulfilling their desires and needs at work. Many measures

purport that employee satisfaction is a factor in employee motivation, employee goal

achievement and positive employee morale in the work place.

    Definition

Employee satisfaction is the individual employees general attitudes towards the

job. It is also an employees cognitive and effective evaluation of his or her job.

The employee satisfaction mainly depends upon working condition within the

organization. The employee satisfaction means the satisfaction derived from doing a

particular job. It is believed that a person is satisfied if he gets what he want and more. He

want something or more important it is to him the job performance leads to employees

satisfaction and not the other way around the basic factor for the phenomenon is thereward attached with performance. There are two types of rewards intrinsic and extrinsic.

  • 7/27/2019 V Project

    2/18

    2A study on Employee Satisfaction

Intrinsic rewards stems from the job itself which may be in the form of growth potential

challenging jobs etc. the satisfaction on such a type or regard may be helped to increase

    the product.

The extrinsic reward is the subject to control by management such as salary,

bonus etc. any increase in this factor do not help to increase the productivity though this

factors increase the employees satisfaction. A happy worker do not necessary contribute

to higher productivity because he cant go beyond certain output. However it doesnt

mean that the employer satisfaction has no impact on productivity. A satisfied worker

may not necessarily lead to increase productivity but a dissatisfied worker leads to lower

    productivity.

    INDUSTRY PROFILE

The juice market in India has been growing steadily and with the increase in health

conscious consumers, the market is expected to get a boost. Among the major segments in

the market namely fruit drinks, nectar and 100 percent fruit juice, the fruit drinks market

accounts for the maximum market share. The rising consumption of packaged products

reflects the demand for the organized juice market.

The report provides and introduction to the juice market in India 1 covering the

market size and growth, market segmentation as well as the rise in packaged versus non

packaged products. It further provides information regarding the juice market in terms of

volume and briefly covers the production as well as the distribution cycle prevalent in the

market. A section on EXIM offers overall export and import figures as well as the country

wise segmentation of juice imported as well as exported. Some insights regarding the

    EXJM scenario have been covered.

The major drivers have been identified and include the rise in health conscious

consumers, growing modern trade as well as the rising disposable income. Indian

consumers are becoming aware regarding the health benefits associated with products

such as juice. In addition, the rising disposable income driven by a developing economy

is allowing individuals to meet their nutritional requirements through products such as

juices. Furthermore, the growth in modern retail has allowed consumers access to a wide

Varity of products manufactured by a whole host of players. The availability of such

products has created strong opportunity for players to capitalize upon by catering to a

larger audience. The market has observed some challenges which include price rise,

existing perception against packaged juice as well as the lack of variation and fluctuation

in quality. Due to the rising prices of basic inputs, players have been forced to increase

prices gradually. This coupled with the fact that consumers are more inclined towards

fresh juice against packaged juices, which may contain preservatives, has negatively

impacted the market. Players find it extremely difficult to differentiate their products

from their closest competitors which translate into high marketing budgets towards

    creating awareness regarding their products.

New flavors and variants, expansion, adoption of new strategies and advent of juice bars

are some of the major trends that have been identified. In order to differentiate their

products, players are looking to provide new flavors of juices. They have started focusing

on packaging of their products as well as looked to offer juices in various pack sizes at

varying price points towards gaining a larger market share. Companies are contently

looking to adopt new strategies towards increasing sales. The strategies adopted can range

from revamping the distribution channel to launching new products. Juice bars have been

rising in India towards tapping consumers against packaged juice products and are

providing such consumers fresh juice created in a hygienic environment at competitive

    prices.

The section on government policy highlights the regulation and control, fiscal

policy and taxation, export promotion initiatives adopted by them impacting the juice

    market.

The competition section provides an introduction to the competitive landscape

including the market share of major players as well as a product matrix. It also offers a

brief profile of the major players including business highlights and financial data towards

providing an insight into the competition scenario in the market.

    REVIEW OF LITERATURE

Employee satisfaction is undoubtedly one among change the word discussed topic

in the new decade, given that the employees satisfaction is positively related to the

development of the organization in long run.

Every human beings will be satisfied only if they are in the stage, where they I

except to be. But human wants are unlimited its the basis fact.

Many researches had been conducted on the topic employee satisfaction. And I

how, also its being conducting worldwide, which leads to theories regarding this subject.

The degree of commitment between employees and employers is directly linked to the

level of job satisfaction. The trust, security and the knowledge that the employees needs

and opinion are being considered, keeps the commitment strong.

Every organization needs to enhance the capabilities of its workforce over time,

which is why many organization offers both formal and informal the effort needed to

improve their skills to help meet organized goals.

The following specific factors and initiatives have been positively affect

    employees satisfaction:

Clearly states guidelines defining appropriate work behavior and job requirement. Supportive communication which immediate supervisors and senior management.

The quality of the supervisory relationship. Clearly defined career goals and paths.

Frequent recognition, both formal and informal. Fair and objective feedback on performance, provided on a regularly. Scheduled basis.

Personal and family-oriented policies and actions.

In order to achieve and maintain success, organization needs to recognize the

following three components of building and managing a truly committed workforce:

    1. Attracting quality employee2. Developing those employees over time3. Building a bond a trust and commitment with those employees. One of the key steps to understanding and improving employee loyalty is by

acknowledgment the importance of the following factors in building loyalty and

    satisfaction:

Broadly defined responsibilities rather than narrowly- defined job Ifunctions

Effective and regular performance evaluation s, both formally and informally. A corporate emphasis on employee learning, developing and growth. Widereading employee participation in the organization as a whole

Typically, a combination of factors influences employees decision to say at their

current job. Contributing factors include satisfying work, a sense of job security, clear

opportunities for advancement, a compelling corporate mission combined with the ability

to contribute to the organizations success and a feeling that their skills are being

effectively used and challenged. Specifically work and family issues also intend to stay

    with the organization.

Today, employee loyalty needs to be earned, rather than assumed, and must be

specific, rather than general employees are looking at their employment as means of

achieving personal goal rather than simply being to good corporate solider of the past.

This means that companies need to express and act in a commitment to develop

employees current job is the best to achieving their career goals.

In particular, consider the following elements of effective strategies designed to build

    loyalty and retain key employees:

  • 7/27/2019 V Project

    17/18

    17A study on Employee Satisfaction

Include opportunities for persona; growth and invest heavily in theprofessional development of the best in the organization.

Provide employees with well defined career path (including a successionplan), mentors and tuition reimbursement for jobrelated education.

Train employees, even if it makes them more attractive to the competition.Without seeing an opportunity on the horizon few high potential employees

will stay with a company and allow themselves to grow stagnant.

Acknowledge non work priorities by recognizing and responding toemployees needs for greater balance in their lives, since employees will

develop loyalty for organization the respect them as individuals, not just as

    workers.

Another approach to the issue of loyalty is to consider the values of the five

    Is

Interesting work: No one wants to do the same boring job over and, day after day.

Although any job will require some repetitive tasks, all jobs should I include at least some

parts that are of high interest to employees?

Information: Information is the power and employees want to have the information they

need to know to do their jobs better and more effectively. And, more than ever,

employees want to know how they are doing in their job and how the company is

performing overall. It is vitally important to open the channels of communication in an

organization to allow employees to be informed, as questions, and hare information and

to inspire them to share the vision of the company.

Involvement: managers today are laced with an incredible number oil opportunities and

problems and, as the speed of business continues, to increase, the amount of time that hasto make decisions continues decrease.

Involving employees decision making, especially when the decision affecting

the directly, is both respectful and practical. Not only do those closed to the problem

typically have the best insight as to what to do, involving them in decision making will

increase their commitment. And improve the success of implanting new ideas or change.

Similarly, management needs to follow through on promises ad live the values they

    preach.

  • 7/27/2019 V Project

    18/18

    18A study on Employee Satisfaction

Independence: Few employees want their every action to be closely monitored. Most

employees appreciated having the flexibility to do their jobs as they see fit. Giving

employees attitude increases the chance that they will performs as desired, as well as

bringing additional initiative, ideas, and every to their jobs. Employees also need to be

encouraged to achieve their best potential.
