IntroductionPowerex manifolds are cleaned for use with oxygen. Eachsystemistestedforchangeover,triggeringofalarmsandleakage.Eachunitisdesignedandpreparedfortheindicatedgasservice.Powerex manifolds are built in accordance with the NationalFire Protection Association and Compressed Gas Associationguidelines.
WarrantyAllPowerexmanifoldsarewarrantedagainstdefectsinmaterialand workmanship for the period of one year from date ofpurchase. All circuit boards are warranted against defects inmaterial andworkmanship for the period of three years fromdateofpurchase.
General Instructions/Location & ShelterManifolds should be installed in accordance with guidelinesstatedbytheNationalFireProtectionAssociation,theCompressedGasAssociation,OSHA, andall applicable local codes. Centralsupplysystemsandcylindersshouldnotbeplacedinalocationwherethetemperaturewillexceed125°F(51.6°C)orfallbelow-20°F(-29°C).Amanifoldplacedinanopenlocationshouldbeprotectedagainstweatherconditions.Duringwinter,protectthemanifoldfromiceandsnow.Insummer,shadethemanifoldandcylindersfromcontinuousexposuretodirectsunlight.Theflowcapacityofnitrousoxideandcarbondioxidemanifoldsdependuponambienttemperatureandthenumberofcylindersonline.Contact your gas supplier to determine the vaporization rateofCarbonDioxideandNitrousOxidecylinders for theambienttemperatureclimateattheinstallationsite.
Leaveallprotectivecoversinplaceuntiltheirremovalisrequiredfor installation. This precautionwill keepmoisture anddebrisfromthepipinginterior.
CautionFailure to follow the following instructions can result inpersonalinjuryorpropertydamage:
• Neverpermitoil,grease,orothercombustiblematerials tocomeincontactwithcylinders,manifold,and connections.Oilandgreasemayreactwithexplosive forcewhenignitedwhileincontactwithsomegases– particularlyoxygenandnitrousoxide.• Cylinderandmastervalvesshouldalwaysbeopenedvery slowly.Heatofrecompressionmayignitecombustible materialscreatinganexplosiveforce.
• Pigtailsshouldneverbekinked,twisted,orbentintoa radiussmallerthan3inches.Mistreatmentmaycause thepigtailtoburst.
• Donotapplyheat.Oilandgreasemayreactwith explosiveforcewhenignitedwhileincontactwithsome gases–particularlyoxygenandnitrousoxide.
• Cylindersshouldalwaysbesecuredwithracks,chains,or straps.Unrestrainedcylindersmayfalloveranddamage orbreakoffthecylindervalvewhichmaypropelthe cylinderfromitscurrentposition.
• Oxygenmanifoldsandcylindersshouldbegrounded. Staticdischargesandlightningmayignitematerialsinan oxygenatmosphere,creatingafireorexplosiveforce.
• Weldingshouldnotbeperformednearnitrousoxide piping.Excessiveheatmaycausethegastodissociate, creatinganexplosiveforce.
• Removeallprotectivecapspriortoassembly.The protectivecapmayigniteduetoheatofrecompression inanoxygensystem.

Control Cabinet Installation• Determineandmarktheverticalcenterlineforinstallationofthemanifoldcontrolcabinet.
• If you wish to place cylinders under themanifold cabinet,measure from thefloor to a point 79” in height above thefinished floor of this vertical line. Using a level, mark ahorizontallineatthispointextendingapproximately7”totheleftand7”totherightofcenter.ThislineindicatesthelocationforthebottomtwomountingboltsoftheZmountingbracket.MountingtheZbracket@79”aff*willresultinthebottomofthemanifoldcabinetbeing60”aff–allowingcylinderstobeplacedunderthemanifoldcabinet.Ifyoudonotwishtoplacecylindersunderthemanifoldcabinet,measurefromthefloortoapoint58½”affandfollowthesamestepsabove.
•Mount the Zmounting bracket to the wall using fastenerssuitableforthetypeofwallconstruction.
• TemporarilyhangthemanifoldcabinetontheZbracketjustinstalled, mating it with the Z bracket on the back of themanifoldcabinet.Markthelocationsofthetwolowercabinetmountingholesonthewall.
• Remove themanifold cabinet and install female portion ofsuitablefastenersforlowercabinetmountingholes.
• Re-hangthemanifoldcabinetandinstallsuitablefastenersinthelowercabinetmountingholes.

Header Installation• Attachtheheaderstotheuniononeachsideofthemanifoldcontrol cabinet. Using a level, mark the placement ofmountingbracketswhilekeepingtheheaderonahorizontalplane.
• Remove the U-bolt assemblies from the header mountingbrackets.Positionthebracketssothatthetopofthebracketis alignedwith the bottom of the headers and is centeredbetweenthecylinderconnections.Theendbracketshouldbeplacedasclosetothelastcylinderaspossibletoprovidethemostsupportandstability.

Plumbing – Model LL• The outlet of themanifold is located at the top center ofthe unit as shownhere. Theoutlet connection is 1/2NPTfemale. A sourcevalve1/2MNPTx¾ tubeextensionhasbeenprovidedwithallNFPA99compliantmodels(part#48-0023)andshouldbeinstalledinthemanifoldoutlet.Itmaybenecessarytoinstalla1/2NPT90°streetelbow(part#17-0300soldseparately)tomeettheconfinesoftheinstallationsite.
• Source valve part # 48-0023 (should be installed on themanifoldcabinetpriortomountingonthewall).

• ThecheckvalveoutletfittingsonthemanifoldheaderbarsareCGA(CompressedGasAssociation)gasspecificthreads.Eachofthesefittingshasanintegralcheckvalve.Makesurethe 3 digit CGA number stamped on the outer perimeterof thesefittingsmatches theCGAnumber stampedon thematingCGAfittingsonthepigtails.Attachthepigtailstothecheckvalveoutletfittingsonthemanifoldheaderbars.

Powerex Limited WarrantyWarranty and Remedies. (a) Standard Period of Warranty – Parts and Labor. PowerexwarrantsandrepresentsallProductsshallbefreefromDefectsforthefirsttwelve(12)monthsfromthedateofshipmentbyPowerex.Duringsuchwarrantyperiod,PowerexshallbefullyliableforallDefectsintheProducts(the“ProductDefects”),i.e.,allcostsofrepairorreplacement,whichmayinclude“inandout”charges,solongastheProductsarelocatedintheUnitedStatesorCanada,andtheProductsarereasonablylocatedandaccessiblebyservicepersonnelforremoval.“Inandout”chargesincludethecostsofremovingaProductfrombuyer’sequipmentforrepairorreplacement.
(b) Additional Period of Warranty – Parts Only (No Labor). In addition to theabove,Powerexwarrants theproductsdescribedhereintobefreefromdefects inmaterialandworkmanshipfor forty-eight (48)monthsfromendofStandardPeriodofWarrantywiththeexceptionofanycomponentswhicharerecommendedtobereplacedinlessthansixtymonthsinourInstallation/Operationmanuals.WithinsaidperiodPowerexwillrepairorreplaceanypartorcomponentwhichisproventobedefectiveineithermaterialorworkmanship.Thiswarrantycoverspartsonly.Laborisnotincluded.Thiswarrantyisvalidonlywhentheproducthasbeenproperlyinstalledaccording toPowerex specifications,used in anormalmannerand servicedaccording to factory recommendations. Thiswarrantydoesnotcover failuresduetodamagewhichoccurs inshipmentor failureswhichresult fromaccidents,misuse,abuse,neglect,mishandling,alteration,misapplicationordamageduetoactsofnature.
(c) General. (i)ThathavenotbeeninstalledinaccordancewithPowerex’swrittenspecificationsandinstructions;
(ii)ThathavenotbeenmaintainedinaccordancewithPowerex’swritteninstructions;
(iii) ThathavebeenmateriallymodifiedwithoutthepriorwrittenapprovalofPowerex;or
(iv)Thatexperiencefailuresresultingfromoperation,eitherintentionalorotherwise,inexcessofratedcapacitiesorinanotherwiseimpropermanner.
Thewarranty provided herein shall not apply to: (i) any defects arising from corrosion, abrasion, use of insoluble lubricants, ornegligentattendancetoorfaultyoperationoftheProducts;(ii)ordinarywearandtearoftheProducts;or(iii) defects arising from abnormalconditionsoftemperature,dirtorcorrosivematter;(iv)anyOEMcomponentwhichisshippedbyPowerexwiththeoriginalmanufacturer’swarranty,whichshallbethesoleapplicablewarrantyforsuchcomponent.
