TraditionsThe Ute Indians have special ceremonies, for death and other reasons. They wore special clothing.They called them selves the nuniun, that means the people.Another tradition is that they make lots of jewelry by hand and bags to carry any thing that they need.

3What did they eat?They ate all sorts of animals like lamp, cows, birds, horses, nuts, berries, peppermint leaves and many more animals and fruit.

Where did they live?The Ute Indians lived from central Utah to western Colorado and from southern Wyoming to northern New Mexico. Also they lived in tipis where ever they lived for that time.

How big was the tribeThey lived in small family groups. After they found horses the tribe became bigger and bigger.

What they woreThey wore fathered hats. They made there clothing out of straw and other materials. They made there shoes out of animal skin and wood and wool.

Famous PeopleHis name was Tuc-a-pit.

contributionsThey were the 1st tribe to ride horses. The Utes gave Utah the name because they were the 1st tribe to be at Utah. They taught the 1st people in Utah how to survive.

Extra informationNo one knows when the ancestors of the numic-speaking Utes arrived in Utah. But by 1500, Utes had spread through eastern and central Utah and parts of Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico. Two distinct groups of Utes live in Utah, the Northern Utes and the White Mesa Utes
