palaMOUNTAINS contains water and fat soluble vitamins, which is effectively solubilised in the emulsion. Because they have been dissolved the nutrients are readily absorbed offering greater uptake of nutrients by the animal.

Fat soluble vitamins require fat in the system to assist with uptake. palaMOUNTAINS provides this polyunsaturated fat source.

Vitamins are passively taken up by cells in the gut wall, maximising nutrient uptake.

Mode of Action

“The advantage of Revive compared to other supplements on the market is that it has both water and fat present in the product. This means that the water soluble vitamins will dissolve in the water, whilst the fat soluble vitamins will dissolve in the oil. Because they have both been dissolved they can readily be absorbed from the small intestine which means that the animal can uptake more vitamins from Revive compared to other powdered or water based vitamin products. If the vitamins have not been solubilised then they cannot be absorbed by the small intestine so while other water based vitamin products on the market may have the fat soluble vitamins in the product, they are not readily available to the animal unless the animals have recently eaten a relatively large amount of fat.

The fats and fat soluble vitamins are then emulsified by bile salts and emulsions and these are presented to the cells lining the inside of the small intestine where they are

taken into the body. The vitamins do not chemically react in any way with the fats. They are passively taken up by cells in the gut wall.

In the case of iodine they do react chemically and bond with the fatty acids, because the iodine atom is chemically attached to the fatty acid it will readily be taken up by the gut cells. Normally when an iodine molecule arrives at the gut cell there is a control mechanism that limits the amount of iodine that will be taken up by the body. But when you attach a molecule of iodine to a double bond of a fatty acid there is no control that limits the amount of iodine that can be taken into the body and so we are able to get more iodine into the animal than might normally be the case.

Hence Revive with added iodine is far more effective than dosing an animal with just iodine.”
