Hillsong Kids BIG presents FAITH HOPE LOVE, a large group/small group Children’s Ministry Curriculum. Whether your children’s ministry is 10, 100 or 1000, Hillsong Kids BIG FAITH HOPE LOVE will assist you in providing a fun and dynamic children’s ministry experience. The goal is to present Christ-centred, Bible-based teaching that is relevant to practical living to empower children to lead and impact in every sphere of life.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our everyday lives.

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.

We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life.

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and the ‘new birth’ we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.

We believe that in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to be baptised in water and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues.

We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together for fellowship, prayer and the ‘breaking of bread’.

We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, fulfil our role in the Church and serve the community in which we live.

We believe that God wants to heal and transform us so that we can live healthy and blessed lives in order to help others more effectively.

We believe that our eternal destination of either Heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.

HOW DOES IT WORK? Hillsong Kids BIG ‘FAITH HOPE LOVE’ contains interactive multimedia and print material everything you need to run BIG in your children’s ministry.

The media contained features interactive teaching video clips, quiz question segments to reinforce the topic, accompaniment track videos with full stereo and split track files for you to use during Praise and Worship, high retention Bible memory verse segments plus much more!

The print material contains everything you’ll need to run the entire curriculum including the small group studies, activity sheets, graphic design, logos and leaders manuals.

PRE-SERVICE COUNTDOWN

Purpose: This is a 3 minute high impact service countdown video to build atmosphere at the beginning of your program.

How to use: Play the video 3 minutes before you want to begin the upfront section of your service. As children are dropped off to your service they could be engaged in free play activities and games, and then as the preservice countdown video is played the children will know that is the time to pack up and gather together infront of your stage area. The Emcee of your service can be up the front during this time. In the final 10 second countdown the emcee can encourage the children to countdown together that will build excitement and anticipation for your service. After the preservice countdown video finishes you may choose to go straight into praise and worship.

Length: 3 minutes.

WORSHIP

Purpose: Energetic and inspiring praise and worship just for kids!

How to use: There are two options available:1. Use the Worship Set on the BIG PICTURE DVD: This segment features a worship set from the songs from Follow You. The worship set consists of 3 accompaniment track videos for you to use during praise and worship in your children’s ministry. Each BIG IDEA will contain a different worship set from Follow You. 2.Use the FAITH HOPE LOVE Worship digital files. You are able to download MPEG files of each of the songs in 3 formats (Full Mix, Backing Track, Click and Backing). You are then able to choose the songs you would like to play for that week and make your own worship sets. You can use these files on media programs just as MEDIA SHOUT.

Length: approximately 15 minutes.


BIG WORD

Purpose: The BIG WORD is the scripture verse that corresponds to the BIG PICTURE for the children to commit to memory.

How to use:There is a high retention Bible memory verse segment on the BIG PICTURE DVDs, that include actions to assist in increasing your children’s scripture retention. Play the DVD and encourage to participate in singing along.

The Print Material files also contain artwork to print the BIG WORD out on cards to give to your children.

The BIG MESSAGE and KDG studies refer to the BIG WORD. It is important to refer to the BIG WORD as often as possible to assist in increasing your children’s scripture retention.


BIG MESSAGE

Purpose: The BIG MESSAGE is the interactive teaching experience for each BIG IDEA. These teaching video clips will give Bible-based life-application lessons for children.

How to use:Play the BIG MESSAGE video while your children are sitting down infront of your screen/TV.


BIG STORY

Purpose: The BIG STORY is the Bible story for the lesson, presenting God’s Word in creative ways capturing the attention of both the children and the leaders! Play this during your Big Message Live Preaching, using this clip to help you illustrate the Big point for the lesson.

How to use:Play the BIG STORY video while your children are sitting down infront of your screen/TV, during your Big Message Live.



BIG QUIZ

Purpose: The BIG QUIZ reinforces the BIG IDEA through an interactive question and answer time.

Resource: BIG PICTURE DVDs or files contain the BIG QUIZ videos.

How to use:Emcee will need to be upfront talking through with the BIG QUIZ video. Until your children get used to the style of the quiz.. here’s what to tell them.

Before you start ask children to lean to the left, right or sit in the middle. As the video plays, ask them to lean to navigate their way through all the questions and see if they can make it through.

The Emcee will need to read aloud the questions and multiple choice answers as you go.

Children lean to which answer they think is correct. Follow the characters and see who wins!



BIG MESSAGE LIVE

Purpose: This is a live upfront teaching segment designed to communicate the BIG IDEA and BIG POINT.

Resource: Print material files contain the BIG MESSAGE LIVE outline documents.

How to use:Use the BIG MESSAGE LIVE outline document for you to construct a message that works for you and your children’s ministry. In this document you will find the Message Outcomes and ideas such as object lessons, story telling ideas and points, to communicate to your children the BIG POINT of this lesson. Use this outline to form a message that works with your personality and gifting. Just choose what elements you want to include, and make it work with your service and children. Remember no one knows your children better than you, so make this your own. God wants to speak to His children, so take the time to pray and seek God for exactly what He wants to say!

Alternatively you can play this live preaching segment to watch one of the Hillsong Kids team present the lesson.

Length: approximately 10 minutes, or whatever length you consider appropriate.


MINISTRY TIME

Purpose: Video loop with music for you to play while you minister to your children or during KDG time, creating an ideal atmosphere.

Resource: BIG MESSAGE DVDs contain the Ministry Time video.

How to use: Play the Ministry Time video when you want to minister to your children. This could be when you are giving an altar call and praying for children. You could also play this while children are participating in KDGs as it will provide a focus atmosphere for them.

Length: 9 minute video loop, or use repeat on your DVD player to extend the length.

GAME TIME

Purpose: Video loop with music for you to play during games and activities in the service, creating a fun exciting atmosphere.

Resource: BIG MESSAGE DVDs contain the Game Time video.

How to use: Play the Game Time video while the children are participating in games and activities.

Length: 15 minute video loop, or use repeat on your DVD player to extend the length.


KDG (KIDS DISCIPLESHIP GROUPS)

Purpose: KDGs are designed to introduce children to the BIG IDEA in a setting that gives them individualized attention from their KDG Leader and plenty of interaction with a small group of peers.

Resource: Print Material files contain the KDG leader guides and activity sheets.

How to use: KDGs are designed to help children understand how the BIG IDEA applies to them. They will discuss real-life experiences, interactive with a group of friends, and participate in a variety of activities that appeal to different learning styles. Life application, connect time, BIG questions, activity sheets, BIG WORD, games and prayer activities are always a part of this hands-on time.

We would suggest each group consists of no more than 10 children, and if possible to have age and gender specific groups. For example you could have a Year 2 KDG of 10 children, and then a Year 3 KDG of 10 children. You will need one KDG Leader for each small group. Ideally, assign the same KDG Leader to the same group of children for the entire year.

Give each of your KDG leaders the leader guide for the BIG PICTURE in advance so they are well equipped to lead their KDG.

KDG consists of:

1. CONNECT TIMEThis is a short activity that provides an opportunity for the children to connect with one another.Length: approximately 5 minutes.

2. THE BIG QUESTIONThis is a discussion time with the KDG. The KDG leader will ask the children the BIG QUESTIONS and will discuss the answers together.Length: approximately 8 minutes.

3. ACTIVITY SHEETSPrint out an activity sheet for each child. You are able to print it in full colour, or you could choose to print the same document only in black and white.

There are 3 types of activity sheets:- Younger children version designed for children 5 & 6 years of age- Older children version designed for children 7 to 9 years of age.- Pre Teens version designed for children 10 to 12 years of age.During the KDG ask the children to complete their activity sheet.For younger children the BIG POINT is written out for them. For older children and preteens they can write the BIG POINT out.


Encourage the children to take their Activity Sheets home with them. There is a Parents section on each of them that provides parents with an opportunity to interact with their children about what they learnt in the program that day. It is a great way for parents to do follow up activities if they choose, such as read relevant Bible passages and discuss questions that their children may have. It also can get the parents thinking how they can bring topics into context with the children’s everyday real-life situations. Length: approximately 10 minutes.

4. THE BIG ACTIVITYThe BIG Activity is an optional small group activity. It is designed for children to have fun and interact with each other whilst illustrating the BIG IDEA. This is great to include if you have a longer service time, or want to extend your KDG time.Length: approximately 10 minutes

5. THE BIG WORDThe BIG Word activity will assist in reinforcing the BIG Word.Length: approximately 5 minutes.

6. GAME TIMEThis is a small group game designed for the children to have fun and interact with each other whilst reinforcing the BIG IDEA. Length: approximately 7 minutes.

7. PRAYERThis activity will encourage your children to pray. Length: approximately 5 minutes.

Length: approximately 40 minutes depending on what activities you choose to include.


OTHER SERVICE ELEMENTS

EARLY ARRIVER IDEAAs children arrive, have various stations set up around the room that appeal to children. PS3, Nintendo Wii, table tennis, princess zone etc.

Select high-energy music to play as the children enter the room. Select another piece to play as children depart.

KIDS NEWSThe Emcee can highlight any key news you may have for your children – any special events coming up, highlights, next week.

ASK GOD AND THANK GODThe print material DVD-ROM contains Ask God and Thank God artwork files for you to print out. Encourage children to write out their prayer requests on the ‘Ask God’ and their praise reports on the ‘Thank God’. At the end of praise and worship, you could highlight the Ask God and Thank Gods or you could get the KDG leader to highlight them during KDG time.

OFFERINGOffering time in your children’s program can be a valuable way to teach them God’s principals of giving and generousity. Take a few minutes before you collect the children’s tithe and offering and teach them from God’s word and pray.


ALTAR CALL One of the greatest joys of being a children’s leader is having the opportunity to be a part of leading children to Jesus Christ.

At every service, it is important to give children an opportunity to make a decision to follow Jesus.

Jesus wants to be our friend… and we always love to give our children an opportunity to give their life to Him! He loves us so much that He gave His life for us, so we could make Him our Lord and Saviour and have our sins forgiven. If you would love to begin a friendship with Jesus, then you can pray this prayer…

Dear Lord Jesus… I ask You into my life. Forgive me of all the things I have done wrong.

I believe You are the Son of God and that You died on the cross for my sins. Help me to love You and live for You everyday. Because of You Jesus, today I am a Christian.

Amen.

When children have made a decision to give their life to Jesus, we need to explain what they have done and provide a safe environment for them to ask questions. The print material DVD-ROM contains a Decision Certificate artwork file for you to print out. Fill in this certificate and present it to the child to keep as a reminder of the moment they decided to follow Jesus.


NEW CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIPUse this as a guide to assist in discipling your children, either in one session or over a number of weeks.

1. SALVATIONFROM THE BIBLE: “Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (CEV)

Welcome to God’s family! Becoming a Christian is the most important decision you will ever make. When you ask Jesus into your life, God forgives you of all the things you have ever done wrong. You also receive the free gift of eternal life.

WHAT NOW?Read them and look for the Bible verse in your Bible. Pray that God will help you in your journey as a Christian.

2. WHO IS JESUSFROM THE BIBLE: “This is how much God loved the world: He gave His son, His one and only son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.” John 3:16 (MSG)

Jesus Is God’s son. Even though He is God, He came to earth as a man. Jesus was crucified on a cross, died and three days later rose again. In doing this, Jesus defeated sin and death and made a way for us to live in relationship with God and receive eternal life. Jesus now sits at the right hand of God and prays for you! Jesus wants to be your best friend!

WHAT NOW?Jesus has forgiven your sins, and given you eternal life. Thank Him every day for making a way for you to be in relationship with Him. Why don’t you thank Him right now!

3. HANGING WITH GODFROM THE BIBLE:“Study this book of the law continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will you succeed.” Joshua 1:8 (NLT)

“Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.” Philippians 4:6 (???)

Reading your bible will help you understand God and His plan and purpose for your life. Talking with God is prayer and listening to His voice is important for your growth as a Christian.

WHAT NOW?Find these 2 scriptures in your bible! Make time everyday to read a few verses from the bible and talk to God.


4. LIVING FOR GODFROM THE BIBLE “God’s spirit is in you and is more powerful than the one that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4B (CEV)

In everything you do you should be living for God. You are God’s representative on planet earth. So, whether you are at home, school or playing sport, the Holy Spirit can help you to be the absolute best for God in everything you do.

WHAT NOW?Pray everyday for the Holy Spirit to show you what God wants you to do.

5. GROWING UPFROM THE BIBLE “Jesus told them: Go and preach the Good News to everyone in the world.”Mark 16:15 (CEV)

Three great things you do as a growing Christian…1. Attend church regularly and hang out with other Christians.2. Tell your friends about Jesus and what He has done for them.3. Be Baptised

Why don’t you tell your friends about Jesus and invite them to church. Just like your life has been changed for the better, so could theirs.

WHAT NOW?Pray for your Church and its leaders, and tell others about Jesus. It’s the quickest way to grow up in God.


HOW TO USE THE BIG PICTURE DVDS

The 3 BIG MESSAGE DVDS contain all the interactive multimedia you need to run in your children’s ministry. All you need is a DVD player and a TV or projector.

When you play the DVD a main menu screen will come up: You can choose which lesson you want to go to by clicking on one of the BIG IDEAS.

SET UPIf you click on SET UP you will be able to choose what format you would like the praise and worship accompaniment track videos to play in. There are three options: Full Mix, Backing Track, or Click with Backing Track. The default setting is Full Mix.

Full Mix – this contains the full mix of the songs with full vocals and instruments. This is a great option to use if you do not have a band or singers to use in your own service.

Backing Track – this contains the backing track version of the songs, and does not include the full vocals in the mix. This is a great option to use if you do not have a band, but you do have singers who could lead your children in praise and worship along with the accompaniment track video.

Click with Backing Track – this contains the click with backing track of the songs. This is a great option if you have singers and/or band who have in-ears which the click track can play in, so they can sing and play in time with the accompaniment track video.


ACCOMPANIMENT TRACKSIf you click on ACCOMPANIMENT TRACKS it will bring up the four songs that correspond to that BIG PICTURE that you are able to play individually.


BIG IDEAWhen you click on one of the BIG IDEAS, a new menu screen will appear that contains all the multimedia you need for that lesson. The menu screen is designed in such a way that you can leave it up on your TV/Projector for your whole service as it reinforces the BIG IDEA for the week. At the bottom of this menu page contains 7 icons that will play the different elements of the service.

PRESERVICE COUNTDOWNThis is a 3 minute high impact service countdown video to build atmosphere at the beginning of your program.

THEME SONGNew in series two of Hillsong Kids BIG Curriculum, we have a special theme song for each big picture. This fun and entertaining song can be played at the start of your up front presentation to help introduce and re-inforce the lesson. WORSHIP Energetic and inspiring praise and worship – just for kids! This segment features a worship set of the songs for the Faith Hope and Love Curriculum. The worship set consists of 3 accompaniment track videos for you to use during praise and worship in your children’s ministry.


BIG MESSAGEThe BIG MESSAGE is the interactive teaching DVD learning experience for each BIG IDEA. These teaching video clips will give Bible-based life-application lessons for children. The video length is approximately 7 minutes.

BIG STORYThe BIG STORY is the Bible story for the lesson, presenting God’s Word in creative ways capturing the attention of both the children and the leaders!

LIVE MESSAGEYou can present the Big Message Live using the guide provided in the print material. Alternatively you can play this live preaching segment to watch one of the Hillsong Kids team present the lesson.

BIG WORDThis is a high retention Bible memory verse segment, including actions to assist in increasing your children’s scripture retention. The BIG WORD is the scripture verse that corresponds to the BIG PICTURE for the children to commit to memory over the course of the four/five lessons.

BIG QUIZReinforcing the BIG IDEA through an interactive question and answer time.

GAME TIME Video loop with music for you to play during games and activities in the service.

MINISTRY TIMEVideo loop with music for you to play while you minister to your children or during KDG time.


FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT AGE IS BIG DESIGNED FOR?BIG is designed for children 5 to 12 years of age, with different material for:

- younger children 5 to 6 years of age- older children 7 to 9 years of age and preteens 10 to 12 years of age

BIG JR is designed for children 1 to 6 years of age, with material for:- toddlers 1-3 years of age- preschoolers 4-6 years of age

WHAT BIBLE TRANSLATION IS USED?A number of different translations are used... i.e. NIV, NLT, NIRV

HOW MANY LEADERS ARE REQUIRED?The number of leaders required will depend on the number of children involved. Large group activities are designed to be led by an individual up the front, while other leaders participate with the children.
