UriSelect™4 MediumDirect Identification Visibly Reliable
Infectious Disease Testing
Non selective chromogenic medium for the isolation, differentiation and enumeration of urinary tract infections pathogens within 18-24 hours:■ Isolation and identification of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens in a single plate
■ Chromogenic mix allowing the detection of specific enzymes activities
■ Direct identification of E. coli, Enterococcus spp. and Proteus mirabilis via revelation and visualization of enzymatic activity of bacteria
■ Presumptive identification of KESC, Streptococci and Staphylococci (diffentiation of S. saprophyticus)
■ Inhibition of Proteus spp. swarming with an original formulation
UriSelect™ 4
Urine specimen inoculation with a 10 μL calibrated loop
Incubation 18-24 hrs at 35-37°C
Enumeration:Compare the density of colonies present on the plates, with those illustrated below:
Assay Procedure
106 CFU/mL 105 CFU/mL 104 CFU/mL 103 CFU/mL
Proteus mirabilis 24 hrs
Interpretation of bacteriuria: Counting of well-isolated colonies on UriSelect™ 4 should be possible up to 104 CFU/mL
of urine. Above that concentration, presence of confluent colonies does not result in accurate counts.

White, other color or colorless colonies
Contrasting colors of colonies enhanced by a pearl-grey opaque background allow for an optimal visualization of polymicrobial mixtures.
