Pectoralis Major
Origin: Sternum, shoulder girdle, and first six ribs
Insertion: Proximal end of humerus
Adducts and flexes the arm
Latissimus dorsi
Origin: Lower spine and ilium
Insertion: Proximal end of humerus
Extends and adducts humerus
Deltoid
Origin: shoulder girdle, spine of scapula, clavicle Insertion: proximal
humerus
Adducts the arm
Supraspinatus
Origin: Supraspinous fossa of scapula
Insertion: greater tubercle of humerus
Abduction of humerus; stabilizes shoulder joint
Infraspinatus
Origin: Infraspinous fossa of scapula
Insertion: greater tubercle of humerus
Lateral rotation of humerus; horizontal abduction of humerus
Subscapularis
Origin: Subscapular fossa of scapula
Insertion: Lesser tubercle of humerus
Adduction of arm; medial rotation of humerus
Teres Major
Origin: Inferior angle of scapula
Insertion: Medial lip of bicipital groove of humerus
Extension; adduction; medial rotation of humerus
Teres Minor
Origin: Upper 2/3 of axillary border of scapula
Insertion: greater tubercle of humerus
Extension; lateral rotation humerus
Coracobrachialis
Origin: Coracoid process
Insertion: upper ½ of the medial border of humerus
Flex and weakly adducts arm
