The Binaytara Foundation is pleased to invite you to the Updates in Hematology and Oncology Conference be-ing held in the William Conference Center at the Lewis-Clark State College, Lewiston, Idaho. Last year’s confer-ence was a huge success with over 70 attendees. This year we have increased the number of sessions and scope of the conference to include the latest updates in breast cancer, colon cancer, and lung cancer.

This multidisciplinary conference will have balanced educational sessions focusing on the needs of hematolo-gists, oncologists, primary care physicians, oncology nurses, oncology pharmacists, and other healthcare profes-sionals involved in the management of hematologic malignancies and solid tumors. Faculty will discuss current and emerging concepts in the field of hematology and oncology.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity participants will be able to: a) Recognize factors that affect the diagnosis, staging, and prognosis of patients with hematologic malignancies and solid tumors

b) Explain indications and contraindications of treatments used for hematologic malignancies and lung cancers, breast cancers, and colon cancers

c) Discuss emerging therapeutic options for treating patients with hematologic malignancies and solid tumors with colleagues and patients

d) Interpret and practice relevant data presented at ASCO 2014 meeting

e) Nurses will be able to provide appropriate care and counsel to patients and families with lung cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, and hematologic malignancies

Professor Damiano Rondelli

Dr. Damiano Rondelli is a Professor of medicine and director of stem cell trans-plant program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He serves as a member of the International Myeloproliferative Disorders Research Consortium (MPD-RC), funded by an NCI PO1 grant (PI Ronald Hoffman, MD). Dr. Rondelli has published over 90 full-papers in international peer-reviewed journals including Blood, Leukemia, Biology Blood Marrow Transplantation, and is a co-author of an Italian Hematology textbook. “Lezioni di Ematologia” by Sante Tura et al, Esculapio Bologna, 2003.

Professor Divyesh Mehta

Dr. Divyesh Mehta is a Professor of medicine at the University Of Arizona College of Medicine and Chief of Hematology Oncology Division at Maricopa Integrated Health System, Phoenix, AZ. Dr. Mehta has research interest in triple negative breast cancer and multi modality treatment of hepatocellular carci-noma. Dr Mehta has authored 3 book chapters; the most recent is titled Platelet Disorders for the 2003 edition of the API Textbook of Medicine.

Professor Parameswaran Venugopal

Dr. Parameswaran Venugopal is a co-director of the lymphoma program and associate director of hematology and stem cell transplantation at the Rush University Medical Center, Chicago. His clinical expertise includes biologic therapy for cancer, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, leukemias, acute and chronic lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome, myelomas, myeloproliferative disorders, and radioimmunotherapy among others. Prof. Venugopal has been an invited speaker at many medical institutions, both in the United States and abroad. He has authored or co-authored 91 full-length manuscripts, 7 book chapters, and over 240 abstracts. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Leukemia Society of America.

Dr. Luke J Grauke

Dr. Luke J Grauke is a board certified, fellowship trained breast imaging radi-ologist with Phoenix Radiology and St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. He has contributed to a number of scientific research papers and presentations, particularly within women’s imaging, and has presented at multiple national radiology meetings. Dr. Grauke maintains a variety of interests within the study of radiology, and is particularly passionate about the early diagnosis and man-agement of patients with breast cancer.

FacultyDr. Edward Libby

Dr Edward Libby is an Associate Professor of medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and a hematologist/oncologist at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. His area of expertise include multiple myeloma, Walden-strom’s macroglobulinemia, amyloidosis, and indolent lymphomas. His re-searches focus exclusively on myeloma and lymphoma.

Dr. Sallee Jones

Dr. Sallee Jones is a general surgeon with St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. In addition to general surgery, Dr. Jones has a strong passion for treating breast cancer and much of her practice is dedicated to surgical breast oncology. She graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her surgical residency at Midwestern University/Franciscan St James Health in Chicago. During her training, Dr. Jones spent a portion of her time committed to breast oncology. She is happy to be a part of a team of physicians dedicated to treating patients with breast cancer.

Dr. Binay Shah

Dr. Binay Shah is a hematologist/oncologist and the medical director at the St. Joseph Regional Cancer Center and Blood Institute, Lewiston, Idaho. His clini-cal research focusses on health services and outcomes. Dr. Shah has published over 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals including Journal of Clinical Oncol-ogy, British Journal of Hematology, Leukemia and Lymphoma, Acta Oncologica and Annals of Hematology. He has presented his research papers in national and international conferences. He also chaired the International Conference on Advances in Hematologic Malignancies held in Kathmandu, Nepal, last fall. Dr. Shah is the Founder and President of the Binaytara Foundation. He serves as a board member of Idaho Society of Clinical Oncology.

Professor Renato G Martins

Dr. Martins, a native of Brazil, is a professor of Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and Associate Medical Director of Non-Transplant Services and Clinical Research Director of Thoracic/Head and Neck Oncology at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. After completing medical school in Brazil, Dr, Martins came to the United States for further training. He did a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School while also earning a master’s degree in public health at Harvard in 1998. Dr. Martins then returned to Brazil, where he was chief of medical oncology at the Brazilian National Cancer Institute in Rio de Janeiro until he accepted his present positions at SCCA and the University of Washing-ton. He arrived in Seattle in February 2004.
