UK visa regulations: points–based system for students (Tier 4)*To be able to enter the United Kingdom to study, a prospective student must pass a points–based assessment and score 40 points to obtain a visa.

In addition, the Home Office has implemented a process whereby students may be required to attend a face–to–face ‘credibility’ interview. Each college will work with you to ensure that students are aware of and well prepared for this experience.

Prospective students will score 30 points for a CAS Statement from an approved education provider and 10 points if they can show that they have the required finances to cover course fees and monthly living expenses for up to nine months (known as maintenance).

To apply for a Tier 4 Student Visa, prospective students will need to fill in the application form, which in most cases will be online, pay the fee and provide when requested:

• A valid passport or travel document

• A CAS statement from a licensed sponsor

• Documents to show they have the right finances (maintenance) available

• Documents used by the college when they offered them a place on the programme

• Documents relating to parental authorisation should the applicant be under 18 years of age.

The UK Home Office will also need to record biometric details for prospective students.

* Information subject to change at any time, this guide is for reference only.

CRIC at Anglia Ruskin University

Established in 1858 and located in the beautiful cities of Cambridge (the ultimate student city in the UK) and Chelmsford (the newest city in England), Anglia Ruskin University is an ideal study choice for international students. The state-of-art campuses host a range of impressive facilities including forensic science laboratories, multimedia sound and recording studios, a University Eye Clinic, Mumford Theatre, two art galleries and much more.

Feature courses

Undergraduate pathway in Architecture

• Ranked number 18 in the Guardian University Guide 2013

• No portfolio required for Foundation entry

Even though 50 percent of the BSc (Hons) Architecture course is design based and design projects play a central role in teaching, it also focuses on technical and management competencies required to realise those designs. The course has fantastic teaching facilities and newly built art studios.

Undergraduate pathway in Engineering and Built Environment

• Ranked 14th in the UK for Civil Engineering (Guardian University rankings 2013).

• Latest facilities means students benefit from specialist management software for project planning and business organisation and finance. Laboratory facilities in geo–technics, hydraulics, structures, engineering materials and concrete testing.

• Our £5 million Anglia Ruskin University Medical Business Innovation Centre (MedBIC) provides you with access to some of the most advanced engineering laboratory spaces located in any UK university.

Undergraduate pathway in International Business Management (two year option)

By completing the degree in two years students will save:

• £5,000 in tuition fees

• approximately £7,200 in one year’s living costs

• one year of study time they can spend in the workforce/further study.

Students with good academic results can gain admission to the unique two year (accelerated) option for this degree so they will study three semesters per year (as opposed to two semesters a year) and, in doing so, save time and money.

Why study with CRIC?• Great for extra–curricular activities

such as sports, theatre and music.

• Students can access the library of University of Cambridge and attend a number of seminars/workshops there.

• 90% of graduates go into work or further study within 18 months of graduation.

• One of the highest employability rates in the UK’s higher education sector (HESA, 2010).

• Two thirds of CRIC students did as well as or better than direct–entry international students at Anglia Ruskin University.

My CRIC: Gabin Leuyou, Cameroon Accounting

“One of the great things about CRIC is the

student support team, who are very receptive and very kind. At the end of my time at CRIC, I was really happy."

ICWS at Swansea University

Set in stunning parkland directly next to Swansea beach, Swansea University is a top ranked research-led university with close ties to world-class companies.

Feature courses

Undergraduate pathway in Engineering

• Swansea University’s best department is Engineering where it received 15th place in the country in the 2013 Complete University Guide.

• Top 10 ranking (Research Assessment Exercise 2008).

• Particular highlights include: Civil Engineering ranked 2nd in the UK for research quality, General Engineering ranked joint 5th, Materials Engineering joint 8th.

Through the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), Engineering at Swansea University is recognised internationally for the quality of its research output. The College of Engineering has strong and established links with industry nationally and internationally. Students are valued by companies to bring a new perspective and insight into the latest engineering developments.

Undergraduate pathway in Law

Providing a route into Swansea’s famous law school which specialises in all forms of law, but especially maritime and commercial law, Swansea’s degree course can provide entrance into one of the world’s most prestigious careers.

A further opportunity which you might consider in the second year is the one year placement programme operated by the School with local law firms. Students who are successful in applying for this programme have the opportunity to work in a law firm and gain valuable experience for just under one year, before going on to level three of the undergraduate programme.

Undergraduate pathway in Politics and International Relations

Students at Swansea University investigate issues such as genocide, financial crises, the role of the United States and the United Nations, and the future of political devolution. The course also asks where threats to our society come from, and whether we can prevent them. Law regulates how we buy and sell goods and services, and how we govern ourselves. It defines how we prosecute and defend, and how we secure the rights of people who may not be able to protect themselves.

Why study with ICWS?• Voted the Overall Best University

in the UK by WhatUni.com Student Choice Awards 2014.

• Ranked in the top 500 universities in the world and the top 40 in the UK (AWRU 2012).

• Multi–million pound sports village, just a two minute walk from ICWS.

• Very low cost of living.

• 91.2% of graduates are in employment or full–time study within six months of graduating (HESA 2010/11).

“ I was very apprehensive about moving to a new country. However on arriving at Swansea, I found everyone extremely polite and helpful. The staff were great and offered help and assistance with smiles. The lecturers are amazing, they are a huge part of why I was able to achieve the Navitas merit scholarship.”

Feature courses

Undergraduate pathway in Business and Management

In the BSc (Hons) Business and Management pathway, you will be equipped with the broad business and management background and the analytical, technical and interpersonal skills required to understand, analyse and address the problems of today’s companies.

If you take certain modules you will gain exemptions from select professional examinations in accountancy, marketing and business and management fields.

Postgraduate pathway in International Business

The MSc International Business is designed for students seeking to operate within an international management or international business setting, as well as a myriad of organisations and disciplines where an understanding of international business is an asset.

The programme aims to enable students to develop a sound understanding of international business contexts and the ability to make integrative links across various disciplines.

Graduates will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the impact of contextual factors on organisations — within the context of internationalisation.

Undergraduate pathway in Computer Science

The department of Information Systems and Computing is ranked top in the country in its area in terms of Research Power, while almost 85 percent of research in the department has been rated World leading or Internationally Excellent.

This course equips you to be knowledgeable both in the efficient design of software and in the techniques you can apply to all aspects of software design, development and verification. You’ll also learn enough about hardware to make the most of its potential using your own software designs. This programme also allows you to focus on a Software Engineering specialism in addition to the core Computer Science content.
