Our inspiration

Seth Roshan Lal Jain was born in 1917 at village Khekra, District

Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. He took up his ancestral khadi business. The

fact that he was known as “Seth Ji” was a reflection his popularity. He

was also an honoured scholar of the Jain philosophy. His emotional

strength was Smt. Taravati Jain, his wife, who supported him in all his

endeavours to build Jain Institutions in Khekra. As a couple, they were

dedicated to spreading of karuna to human beings and other living

organisms. They both had the vision to create institutions for

enhancing value-based education.To the inspiring memory of Late

Seth Roshan Lal Jain and Smt. Tarawati Jain his son Shri Jinesh Chand

Jain with his wife Smt. Sunita Jain created Seth Roshan Lal Jain Trust

which is dedicated to the spread of technical education in North India.

CHAIRMANShri J.C. Jain, Chancellor of University of Engineering and Technology University Roorkee (UETR) and Chairman of Seth Roshan Lal Jain Trust is a visionary who has dedicated his life to the be�erment of society. A�er comple�ng his MTech. in Produc�on Engineering from BITS Pilani in 1971, he founded Texplas India Pvt. Ltd. in 1975 for advancements in the field of manufacturing. Apart from being a pioneer in innova�ve engineering products, he is also a well reputed member of CII and JITO founda�on. To pursue his passion for quality educa�on & development of youth who can become the responsible ci�zens of tomorrow and lead the world, he established in College of Engineering Roorkee (COER)1998 and COER School of Management in 2006. As a recogni�on of his contribu�on towards Educa�on and Industry, he has been honored with various awards by several leading socie�es and ins�tu�ons, some of them being: Udyog Ratna Award (1983), Udyog Ratna Award (1990), U�arakhand Ratan-Award (2008) etc. In 2014, Sammedachal Founda�on has conferred him the �tle of 'Jain Shiromani' and 'Jain Samaj Ratan'. He was honored with Mahamana Award by Hon'ble Governor Smt. Baby Rani Maurya on December 25, 2018 for his long-term leadership role for development of the Na�on.

VICE CHANCELLOR

Professor Satya P. Gupta, Vice Chancellor of University of

Engineering and Technology Roorkee (UETR) has been associated

with the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (formerly University

of Roorkee) for 42 years where he joined as Lecturer in Electrical

Engineering Department in 1976, became Reader in 1982 and

Professor in 1994. He also served IIT Roorkee as Deputy Director. He

did post-doctoral work from University of Bristol under

Commonwealth award in 1989-90. He also taught and did research

at University of Puerto Rico (USA) in 1990-91.

Professor Gupta made a significant contribution in research in

various areas of Electrical Machines, Drives and Power Electronics.

He published about 75 research papers and guided 11 PhDs. He

was also associated in research on Condition Monitoring of

Electrical Machines where he worked on two sponsored research

projects awarded by the Department of Science & Technology

(DST) and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

He received best paper award from the Institution of Engineers

(India) twice. Professor Gupta has travelled to Switzerland,

Singapore, China, USA, UK, UAE and Russia for Academic

assignments, Conferences, delivering invited lectures as well as for

alumni networking.

UETR Residential Complex has the uniqueness of many state-of-the-art buildings, sprawling lawns, well

maintained playgrounds in pollution free environment. It has been planned, designed and constructed to

address broader issues that relate to resource and energy conservation. Thoughtful landscaping creates a

vibrant campus and motivates students to remain lively and active.

Separate Hostels are established for boys and girls that provide feelings of "a home away from home". Student

hostels, at full strength, can accommodate around 2100+ students. Campus is wi-fi enabled.

We at UETR, ensure that students can put their hundred percent into curricular and extracurricular

engagements. Reading rooms and mini library is available in each hostel. Separate Gym for Boys and Girls

Reading room in each hostel is equipped with materials like magazines, newspaper, books. Indoor games like

Table-Tennis, Chess, Carrom but Squash and Lawn Tennis Courts, Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Badminton courts are

also available within the area of the residential complex.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel rooms are spacious, semi- furnished and available

on single/double occupancy. The Boys' Hostel named as

Aklank Bhawan, Arihant Bhawan, Ashok Bhawan, BCJ

Bhawan, Gupti Sagar Bhawan and Kund-Kund Bhawan.

Indoor games are available in all the hostels. Common

Basketball and Volleyball Courts are located in front of

Gupti Sagar Bhawan. Café is available in front of Ashok

Bhawan which serve tea, coffee, milk, soup, and snacks

during 05:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

BOYS HOSTEL GIRLS HOSTEL

The campus has two hostels for Girls namely Ahilya

Bhawan and Tarawati Bhawan. The Girls’ Hostel furnished

with all basic comforts, can boast of its high security

standards to meet the expectations of parents. Indoor

games are available in both hostels.

provide an opportunity for all students to take part in outdoor games such as Football, Basketball,

Volleyball, cricket competitions and some of the indoor games like Carom, Table Tennis, Chess, etc.

in intercollegiate competitions, inter-district competitions and even inter-state competitions.
