Planning Policy PositionUniversity Gate is covered by Policy EC4 of the Cotswold District Local Plan. The Local Plan was adopted in August 2018. Policy EC 4 allows development proposals for the expansionof the existing University campus, including associated development for educational, training, business and research development, student accommodation and other operational floorspace.

PLANNING HISTORY

University Gate currently benefits from anextant consent for the erection of commercialbuildings for uses comprising education, research, agricultural business and conferencefacility with associated infrastructure works. The permission was originally granted in April2007 but subsequently renewed (under ref:10/00964/OUT) in May 2013. The developmentpermitted 34,373m2 of new floorspace withan associated roundabout entrance on theA429 Tetbury Road. Reserved matters for theextant planning permission were submitted inMay 2018 and are currently under considerationwith the local planning authority. The principle of commercial and other useson the site are therefore well established bythe planning history on the site as well as therecently adopted planning policy.

Any emerging development proposals will needto be carefully masterplanned and have specialregard to the Parkland setting of the maincampus as well as ensuring that the sportingprovision on the main University campus to the west is maintained and safeguardedagainst development.
