COLLEGES

“ I felt I was crossing a bridge throughout the Global UCF program — engaging and

understanding American culture, mapping my career path and fully navigating my

academic options. Global UCF is designed to meet the needs of international students,

providing an outstanding academic and cultural framework for living and studying at UCF,

as well as career preparation.” — JULIA from Brazil

2 GLOBAL UCF • 3

NOORA from UAE

“I chose UCF because of their engineering program. I’m interested in going into research and UCF has many research projects going on — not just for graduate students, but for undergraduate students, too. That’s not very common at other universities.”

DASHA from Russia

“I want to use the power of storytelling and animation to impact people emotionally and inspire them to discover new things about themselves and the world. When I chose to pursue animation as my major, I realized that I would have to leave my home country. I chose UCF mainly because of the Global UCF program. I felt more comfortable coming to the United States knowing that there would be people to guide and support me during my first year of college.”

What do you love most about GLOBAL UCF?

DEEPAK from India

“UCF’s computer science program is one of the strongest in the United States, so this was the right choice for me. In the Global UCF program, I realized that we all have similar motives and ideas. Our experiences and perspectives might be different, but I felt I could connect with other students. Global UCF did that for me.”

EVA from Malaysia

“ My advice to future students would be: go for it! The Global UCF program really helps. I think that for international students, coming here without that support would be a lot harder.”

THIAGO from Brazil

“Global UCF was a great experience for me because I built relationships with people from all over the world. UCF is a huge campus and I’m always meeting someone new. The academic support was very helpful—the tutors made a big difference.“

XIMENA from Venezuela

“What I love most is the people. We end up being like a family. We take care of each other but also push each other to stay on track. Orlando is used to international visitors and everyone is very welcoming and respectful. The UCF campus is gorgeous. It may feel huge and overwhelming at first, but then it becomes familiar and just feels like home.”

YE (JACK) from China

“I think Global UCF is the right choice for international students. Working as a Peer Mentor, I helped a lot of students adapt to UCF. I was able to teach them the things I’ve learned since being here and where to find the resources they need.”

AMERICAN CULTURAL EXPERIENCES

The College Strategies for Success course gives you the social, professional and academic skills to succeed beyond your first year. Best of all, it includes many cultural experiences that connect you with your fellow students and your community. These experiences might include:

• Spirit Splash, one of the biggest homecoming traditions in the country! Over 10,000 students come together to celebrate our amazing school at the Reflection Pond in front of the library.

• Universal Knights, the greatest study break of the year! Prior to finals week during the spring semester, the UCF Student Government Association and Universal Studios reserve the park just for UCF students for free. It’s an event shared with thousands of students and is filled with school spirit. You don’t want to miss it!

• Cheering on the UCF Knights during one of the many sporting events: football, soccer, basketball, baseball . . . Go Knights!

• Exploring Orlando and supporting the local teams! You might get to go to an Orlando City Soccer Club (MLS) match or an Orlando Magic (NBA) game.

Global UCF’s programs offer a unique first-year experience for international students attending the University of Central Florida. For international students, the move from high school in your home country to a university in the United States can be challenging — a new language, new ways of learning and a new home. Global UCF sets the framework for successful integration to American culture and university life, as well as the academic support necessary to thrive in an academically challenging environment. After completing the program, you will progress to year two of your degree program at UCF.
