Keep It Balanced! Portfolio Choose 5 activities to complete. Three of the activities are required –

marked by a balance. 1. Use the manipulative, NLVM Balance; follow the instructions and experiment with several equations. Input the following 5 equations and solve using the balance. Take a screen shot of each solution and copy it into your portfolio. 3x + 5 = 11 4x + 3 = 15 2x + 4 = x + 6 3x + 1 = 2x + 6 4x + 2 = 2x + 8 2. Complete the Webquest, Taming Word Problems. All completed activities are added to your portfolio. The rubric will be used for scoring. The fourth task, part 2, does not need to be completed.

3. Watch the BrainPop video, Two-Step Equations. (Don’t forget that password information is in your password handout in your general information folder.) After watching the video, take the quiz and take a screen shot of your score. Also complete the Q&A using your own words in your portfolio and 3 activities from FYI: Do it! and 2 others. 5. Watch the BrainPop video, Slope and Intercept. (Don’t forget that password information is in your password handout in your general information folder.) After watching the video, take the quiz and take a screen shot of your score. Also complete the Q&A using your own words in your portfolio and 3 activities from FYI: Summarize the information from each of the FYI activities.

6. Complete the online practice for 2–step equations. Take a screen snapshot of your answers with your score ____%. Your score should be 80% or above. Choose 2 problems and in your portfolio, explain step-by-step how you solved the equations. Or you may choose one equation, explain step-by-step how you solved the equation and add an iMovie of the process.

7. Watch the NASA video, Real World: Rectangular Coordinate System. Pause the video to complete the instructions; show these to your teacher when you complete the video. In your portfolio, summarize the video by describing the rectangular coordinate system using correct vocabulary and giving some examples of how it is used in the real world.
