Cut the comedy / Cut the funny stuff!

O MEANING: Stop acting silly and telling jokes!; Be serious!

O EXAMPLES:John: All right, you guys! Cut the comedy and get to work! Bill: Can't we ever have any fun? John: No.

Vocabulary: O Hilarious: very funny. O Silly: not sensible or serious; stupid

in a funny way.O Stunt: an exciting and ofetn

dangerous act performed to entertain people, usually in amovie.

O Chuckle: to laugh quietly or softly. O Giggle: to laugh in a childish way

because something is silly. O Guffaw: to laugh laoudly but briefly. O Hysterical: extremely funny.

O Parody: a performance that copies a particular style in a funny way.

O Satire: a way of talking about something that is funny and makes people see its faults.

O Slapstick: humorous acting where the actors fall over, throw things at each other, etc.

O Snicker: to laugh quietly at something that is silly or ridiculous.

O Insult: to say or do something that offends.

O Punch line: the last few lines of a joke or story that make it funny or surprising.
