What about Teachers?

STEP 1:
TEA and SBEC will evaluate current TEKS implementation and determine the competencies needed to teach the new CTE course inventory.
This is typically a 1-2 year process that is conducted while TEKS are developed and new courses/TEKS are implemented.

STEP 2:
TEA and SBEC work with SMEs/current certifying institutions to determine new teacher certification requirements
During this time a crosswalk is established by TEA to allow teachers under current certifications guidelines for course that can be taught during the new teacher certification implementation timeline.
This is typically a 1-2 year process during new curriculum implementation.

STEP 3:
Establish timeline for new teacher certification standards to be implemented
This timeline typically establishes a “grandfathering” date for teachers that are currently not certified and not in a teacher certification program.
This is typically a 1-2 year process during new curriculum implementation.
