    13 May – Deeply concerned at the alarming scale of the humanitarian

    crisis caused by the activities of Boko Haram in the Lake Chad Basin

    region, the United ations !ecurity Council demanded that the group"immediately and une#uivocally cease all violence and all abuses of

    human rights and violations of international humanitarian la$%&

    'hrough a (residential !tatement, the !ecurity Council also e)pressed

    deep concern that the activities of Boko Haram continue to underminethe peace and stability of the *est and Central +frican region% 'he

    Council strongly condemned all terrorist attacks, abuses of humanrights and violations of humanitarian la$ by the group in the region,

    including those involving killings and other violence against civilians,

    notably $omen and children, abductions, rape, se)ual slavery andother se)ual violence, recruitment and use of children, and destruction

    of property%

    Concerned by reported violations and abuses of human rights and largescale displacement of the civilian population across

    the Lake Chad Basin region as a result of Boko Haram-s activities, the Council also demands the immediate andunconditional release of all those abducted $ho remain in captivity, including ./0 schoolgirls abducted in Chibok, Borno

    *hile commending the support provided to the displaced populations by the global community, in particular the people andgovernments of the Lake Chad Basin region, including $ith the assistance of humanitarian actors and relevant U entities,the Council urged the international community to immediately support the provision of urgent relief assistance for the

     people most affected by the crisis in Cameroon, Chad, iger and igeria% :ndeed, appro)imately /1 percent of the ?8@/million re#uired to fulfil such assistance has been received this year, noted the Council%

    'o date, the A+G ALE' programme has supported more than .11 pro6ects in some 21 tropical timber producing countriesthroughout +frica, Latin +merica, the Caribbean and +sia% !ome of the most promising initiatives being piloted involveusing ne$ technologies to efficiently track the origin of $ood%
