Umwelt-Zertifizierungen von Gebäuden liegen stark im Trend, was

sich in einem schnell wachsenden Markt mit großem Volumen

wider spiegelt. Im Jahr 2010 hatten grüne Neubauten einen Anteil

von 35 Prozent, das sind 54 Milliarden US-Dollar bei einem Markt-

volumen von 154 Milliarden US-Dollar. Bis 2015 wird mit einem

Anstieg auf bis zu 48 Prozent des erwarteten Gesamtvolumens von

302 Milliarden US-Dollar gerechnet. Im selben Zeitraum wird sich

der Anteil bei Reno vierungen knapp verdreifachen*. Die Beweg-

gründe dafür sind:

■ Der Verkaufswert und die Vermarktungsmöglichkeiten 

von „grünen“ Immobilien steigen■ Die Mieter akzeptieren höhere Mieten■ Die Betriebskosten werden durch den geringeren Verbrauch an

There is a marked trend towards environmental certification of

buildings, which is reflected in a rapidly growing large-volume

market. In 2010, the share of green buildings among those newly

built amounted to up to 35 percent, which equals US$ 54 billion

at a market volume of US$ 154 billion. By 2015, this figure is

expected to increase to up to 48 percent of the anticipated total

volume of US$ 302 billion. In the same period, the share in re-

furbishments will nearly treble*. The reasons for this trend are the

following:

■ The sales value and marketing possibilities of green

buildings  are rising■ Tenants are willing to pay higher rents■ Operating costs are significantly reduced by lower

consumption of energy■ The CO

2 balance of the company benefits from reduced

use of resources

■ Furthermore, certified buildings are also a tool used for

LEED® ist ein international anerkanntes Zertifizierungssystem für

nachhaltiges Bauen, welches vom U.S. Green Building Council im

Jahr 2000 gegründet wurde. Weltweit beurteilen akkreditierte

Fachexperten die Gebäude auf ihre umweltfreundliche, ressourcen-

schonende und nachhaltige Bauweise. Die Vergabe der Punkte

erfolgt in verschiedenen Kategorien, sechs davon sind auch im

Bereich der Beleuchtung relevant.

Leadership in energy and environmental design

LEED® is an internationally recognised certification system for sus-

tainable building, founded by the U.S. Green Building Council in

2000. Worldwide, accredited experts evaluate buildings in terms

of eco-friendliness, sustainable construction and efficient use of

resources. Points are awarded in various categories, 6 of which

are also relevant within the area of lighting.

Das Zumtobel Life Cycle Assessment basiert auf der internationalen

Norm ISO 14 040/44. Dieses anerkannte und zuverlässige Instrument

misst und bewertet die Umweltwirkungen eines Produkts von der

Rohstoffgewinnung bis zum Recycling. Das Prinzip lautet:

um sie in der Folge über den gesamten Lebensweg möglichst gering

zu halten.

Life cycle of Zumtobel products

The Zumtobel life cycle assessment is based on the international

ISO 14 040/44 standard. This reliable and acknowledged tool is used

to measure and rate a product’s environmental impact, from the

extraction of raw materials to recycling. The guiding principle:

to start analysing a product’s environmental impact in its design

phase in order to reduce it over its whole life cycle.

Mit einer Umwelt-Produkterklärung (EPD, Environmental Product

Declaration) für jedes Produkt leisten wir einen wesentlichen Beitrag

auf Ihrem Weg zu einer erfolgreichen Zertifizierung. Die EPD

ist eine  Material- und Umweltbilanz und basiert auf den Standards

ISO 14 025, ISO 14 040/44 und EN 15 804 (Nachhaltigkeit von Bau-

werken, Umweltdeklarationen für Produkte, Grundregeln für die

Produktkategorie Bauprodukte). Jedes Dokument wird vom unab-

hängigen Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU) geprüft und bestätigt.

Damit schaffen wir die Voraussetzung für die Vergleich barkeit der

Produkte, die Transparenz bezüglich der Inhaltsstoffe und für eine

kontinuierliche Produktverbesserung.

For increased transparency

With our Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for each product

we make a significant contribution towards your successful certifica-

tion. The EPD is a material and environmental balance based on the

ISO 14 025, ISO 14 040/44 and  EN 15 804 standards (sustainability of

buildings, environmental declaration for products, basic regulations

for the building product category). Each document is checked and

acknowledged by the German Institute Construction and Environment

(IBU) e.V. In this way, we create the pre requisites for the comparability

of products, for transparency with respect to the materials used and

for ongoing product improvement.
