After a three‐year hiatus, the embers started to collectively glow again for Southern California metal trailblazers Atreyu.

“The time away from it helped all of us gain perspective,” says Alex. “After doing like 200 shows per year for a decade, we were burnt o

when we went away. Once we met up, we missed the band and what it meant to us. It was time to do it again. We were a hundred

percent in control of our own destiny and fired up like never before.”

So, the group began writing in their Orange County rehearsal space, quickly tapping into the spirit millions of fans fell in love with, but

harnessing their newfound wisdom along the way. In secret, they hit the studio with producer Fred Archambault [Avenged Sevenfold]

and began cutting what would become their sixth full‐length album, Long Live and first since 2009’s Congregation of the Damned.

“With this album, I feel like our only intention was to think about our favorite moments, attributes, and signatures of the band and ma

an album that represents those one‐hundred percent,” remarks Brandon. “That was the only thought. Otherwise, it was off ‐the‐cuff an

“Pop songs without depth irritate us all, and to have depth, you need tragedy or misfortune,” says Darwin of his delightfully

off ‐kilter and often heart‐rending, pop algorithm. “Nietzsche said tragedy involved a balance of Dionysian (passionate) and

Apollonian (well ‐ formed) aspects which is very relevant to me. I find McCartney’s lighter ditties to be the Apollonian elemen

of The Beatles, whilst Lennon brought the Dionysian aspect through deep and meaningful songs. That’s the magically

balanced formula I’m aiming for.”

Formed in 2012, The Winter Passing stemmed from the vital Irish DIY scene. The band has spent the past three years touri

the UK and Ireland multiple times and releasing a handful of 7"s on various labels. At the heart of the group is brother and

sister pair Rob and Kate Flynn, who have been playing music together since they were 14 and 12, respectively. Growing up

together, the two shared a love of bands such as The Get Up Kids, The Anniversary, The Replacements, and Sonic Youth,

the influences of which are strongly suggested in their songs. "A Different Space of Mind' is a record about survival, about

saving yourself from yourself and the realization of the world around you," explains Rob of the album. It was recorded with

Bob Cooper (Nai Harvest) in Manchester, England and with Aiden Cunningham in Tullymore, Ireland, who also mixed and

mastered "A Different Space of Mind.
