The foundation of the Arc Angels was laid at the Austin RehearsalComplex (Whose initials inspired the first word of the bands moniker).There Charlie Sexton had a writing room where he was preparing for hisnext solo album, Doyle Bramhall II was writing and rehearsing under adevelopment deal with Geffen Records, and Chris Layton had a drumroom where he and Tommy Shannon would practice. The initial idea wasfor a jamming band to play around town when Stevie Ray Vaughan wasoff the road but nothing came of it. But after the death of Stevie Ray, theArc Angels became a musical outlet and inspiration for all four bandmembers.

With the release of their debut album on Geffen records the band

preceded to tour for 3 years with appearances on David Letterman, JayLeno and Conan OBrien. Overloaded with talent the band came to anabrupt halt, breaking up in 1994. Chris and Tommy continued on withStoryville (Another Austin success story) as Doyle and Charlie revisitedthere solo careers. Doyle eventually moving on to perform with RogerWaters and then to become a member of Eric Claptons touring band,while Charlie spent five years on the road with Bob Dylan.
