diesem Fall EMV-Strungen auftreten knnen. Die UM18-2 Pro-Sensoren verfgen ber eine interne
Temperaturkompensation.

Correct useThe UM18-2 Pro is an ultrasonic sensor for non-contact detection of objects, animals, and persons.
CommissioningFor instructions, see:
Process diagram A for sensors with switching outputs Process diagram B for sensors with analog outputs
Notes: Distance measurement is not possible within the blind zone of
the UM18-2 Pro ultrasonic sensor. Operation with filter setting F00 is not permitted, as EMC
interference may occur in this case. The UM18-2 Pro sensors feature internal temperature
compensation. Due to the sensor heating up, the temperature compensation function will reach its best working point after around 20 minutes.
During normal operation, an orange LED lights up to signal that the switching output is switched through (in the case of sensors with a switching output) or that an object is in the scaling area (in the case of sensors with an analog output).
The teach-in function is deactivated when synchronization or multiplex mode is activated.
You have the option of using the Connect+ adapter (CPA; available as an accessory) and the Connect+ software for Windows (order number 6037782) to make all teach-in settings as well as additional sensor parameter settings.
UM18-2 Pro sensors with switching outputs are IO-Link-capable in accordance with the V1.0 specification. A description of IO-Link functions and the latest IODD for these sensors are available free of charge at www.mysick.com/en/um18-2_pro.
You can find a detailed instruction manual with a description of IO-Link at www.mysick.com/en/um18-2_pro.
sensors with switching outputsSensors that have a switching output offer three operating modes (see process diagram A):
Operation with one switching point (method A or method B)The output is set when the object is located below the taught-in switching point. In the teach-in procedure "Set switching point method A", the sensor learns the actual distance to the object as a switching point. In the teach-in procedure "Set switching point method B", the sensor learns the distance to the object plus 8% as a switching point.
Window operationThe output is inactive when the object is located within the taught-in window.
Object between sensor and Background (ObsB)The output is set when the object is located between the sensor and a fixed reflector. The object to be recorded may be in the area of 0 ... 85% of the taught-in distance.
sensors with analog outputsSee process diagram B.
teaching in scaling (4 mA ... 20 mA/0 V ... 10 V) If the sensor-remote scaling limit is taught in before the scaling
limit on the sensors side, the limits are exchanged internally. If scaling of less than 1 mm is taught in, both LEDs will flash
quickly together for 3 s to indicate an error. The old scaling limits are maintained.
setting output characteristics (rising/falling) While the green LED flashes, the output characteristics are
inverted at every application of "L+". If "L+" is not applied for 10 s, the set output characteristics are
actively and permanently stored. The sensor is operational.
switching between teach-in and synchronization/multiplex modeSee process diagram C.
If you want to operate several ultrasonic sensors and the assembly distance indicated in table "Assembly distances" is undercut, we recommend using the integrated synchronization or multiplex mode.
While the green LED flashes, the mode switches between teach-in and synchronization/multiplex mode at every application of "M". If "M" is not applied for 10 s, the set function is adopted. The sensor is operational.
synchronization/Multiplex mode Synchronization mode avoids mutual influence. The detection zone
increases to the area covered by all synchronized sensors. For synchronization mode, the sensors must be connected to each
other via PIN 5 (MF) (max. 10 sensors). Multiplex mode allows mutual influence to be avoided altogether
by means of alternate measurements of the connected sensors. To switch to multiplex mode, different addresses must be assigned
to the sensors that are already synchronized, using Connect+.
